So much for Ek's strong E4 and almost E5, on Luongo to the Leafs, last night. It's now an E3. Wait another 24 hours and it'll be an E2. Then Luongo becomes a Flyer! Then Ek will experience what it's like to be a Leafs fan...... - PrinceLH
Im guessing that the Panthers are really in on Lou. Markstrom's last couple of years have been a little on the rough side of things. Tallon has also made moves to play and win games in the now. |

I hope so. We need a top 5 pick and not an over the hill goaltender, that has 10 years left on his deal. It's all about cap management and getting Luongo, isn't it! |

The moves they have made would suggest other wise. But look at what they did last year. If you add Lou to it they are a more lethal team. They could add Lou and still have loads of salary left over. |

No gringo......floor team, we don't wanna be no stinkin' floor team! Why do we need to be a floor team, while uncle sugar, in Toronto, will cut us a cheque to stay solvent? Just like our bandito's in Nashville, Columbus, Phoenix and Minnesota!

They did that to reach the cap floor. Not because they really wanted to spend that much. From what I remember anyways. |

I have no idea what you're going on about. My only point about the Panthers being a budget team is that his contract isnt something an owner may want. |

Making the playoffs again is something an owner is gonna want. Lou could almost insure that. Not to mention they could get Lou and move salary and be in the same spot in salary. |

You did say Budget team. Not a league min in salary team. The Kings were a Budget team. They werent allowed to spend to the league max. - poisondhearts37
Umm they go hand in hand. Teams at the floor usually have a tight budget set by the owner on what the GM can spend. Whether at the floor or slightly above, the point is essentially the same. Considering the Kings arent that far from the cap, and spent a lot of money, they were hardly a budget team. |

They made the playoffs without Luongo. No pressing need for taking on a 34 year old for 9-10 years. His contract long term is the issue, especially when he really begins to decline. Shuffling the roster today does little for the decade he will be on the books.
If anything, they probably want to replace Garrison on D and add some more firepower up front. Sure they would want Luongo, but a budget team wouldnt be eager to take on that salary. |

Maybe a Luongo and Ballard for Brian Campbell deal makes more sense. Since Campbell has a long, expensive contract, as well. It would offset the money side of it. |

You think Theo and Clemmenson can do it again? Get them to the playoffs? Lou not matter what anyone says is still a good goalie. Just because Vancouver has a younger cheaper goalie to do the same doesnt mean Lou isnt a commodity to teams. Other wise there wouldnt be so much talk about him going to here and there. |

I think they have a chance. I also think Jacob Markstrom is their goalie of the future, and can really take a step forward this year with two veterans taking the pressure off him. Nobody is suggesting Loungo isnt a good goalie. Dont take it down that road.
The point is that Florida already has 3 goalies, they are a budget/floor team, and Luongo is 34 with a 9-10 year contract. Plus they would have to give up good young players to make the deal happen. Is this the right player at the right time for this organisation?
Im not saying a deal cant or wont be done, but im not sure its something the Panthers owner would be eager to do from what we've seen so far. |

I'd rather trade Kessel, even up for him. Seems to fit the bill for both teams. |

The logjam on the sabres D needs to break, I wouldn't add a forward just to add one though. From LA I would look at Gagne not Stoll, Jerret has too much term left on his contract for my liking. - MattKenney
Gagne is an injury waiting to happen. |

Dont be ridiculous Montreal isnt trading Subban in Bergevins 1st year, Bergys in Toronto negotiating with Meehan all week. PK wants to play in Montreal and wil be resigned either to a 2-3 year bridge contract or locked up long term sometime this week. Shame on you guppies eating up Eklunds poor literature. Shame on yous! |
