How are the Negative Nellies doing today.

I can't wait for this team to move to Kansas City!!!

Then you guys can move on... take out your frustrations on something else!!!

- jimmc7722

well, for starters, I'm concerned that Strome is on the 4th line in camp. Very Nino-like. I'm also concerned that Nielson is on the 2nd line and not the 3rd where he belongs. I'm concerned that we still have Marty Reasoner. I'm concerned that we don't have PA Paranteau, and we need Boyes to make up for the missing PA numbers. I'm concerned that Martinek is back and probably won't stay healthy. Did I mention that I'm concerned about a certain goalie who is still on this team and will likely be there for a long long time. whew....I feel better now. A little pre-season vent/rant.

According to Hockeysfuture, Wishart is ranked higher than Finley.
- Charlie21

Although I will add that Finley will play in Bridgeport.

Huge defenceman with lots of penalty minutes.

6' 8" 250 lbs.

Played with the Amerks last year!!!

you think the islanders came out of the nabby situation looking bad?? i dont...
- LetsGoIsles

We were the laughing stock of the league during that whole stand off then tolling of his contract... him signing here in the end doesn't change the fact that for a season & a half we looked like the bad guys.

In some corners of the hockey universe, yeah. Not to people who follow along more closely like we do, but when Vis pulled his "I don't want to report" routine, there were plenty of "Ha, no one wants to report to the Isles" comments flying around. Down Goes Brown didn't do a clever little video when Nabokov decided to finally play here. They did the "waiver wire" one when he wouldn't report. Damage is done in some respects no matter how it turns out.

Strome will play 5 games.

He will get his chance to play on the top 2 lines and powerplay.

Nielsen will be the second line centreman this year again.

PA is overrated... Tavares and Moulson made PA look good.

Even the guys on TSN said PA made a mistake leaving a perfect situation for him.

Whoever gets to play on that top line will score 20 goals this year.

Martinek may only play 20 to 25 games... true. But we need the depth.

DP... well, what do you say about that...

Hopefully he retires due to injury.

Maybe we should "Gomez" him... pay him to sit home, so he doesn't get hurt. Then buy him out next year!!!

Anybody know who Joe Finley is?.......

The legend of Joe Finley has gone...to the New York Islanders. There are also reports stating that Visnovsky has decided to remain in the KHL and not play for the Islanders.

As per Bob McKenzie, David Leggio and Drew Schiestel have reportedly cleared waivers.

Darren Dreger✔
@DarrenDreger

Joe Finley (D) claimed off waivers by Isles from Buff.

Finley was a 1st round (27th overall) pick in 2005 by Washington. He appeared in just five games with the Sabres, recording 12 penalty minutes and a -3 rating.

GOOD!!!!! (frank) this guy. The Islanders should have some pride and tell the (frank) that if doesn't want to play his eastern European ass can watch from the sidelines. Tell him he plays for us or not at all.
- clebo99

The point is they don't have to be outwardly vindictive and verbal to make their point to Vis to "f**k off". Let the process run its course. Say all the right things, do everything that the rules permit you to do. Just don't be obvioulsy vindictive and spiteful. It accomplishes nothing but making a team's already poor reputation worse.

How do you explain PA playing so well with out Moulson and Tavares? Having Nielsen as second line center makes Snow look even more incompetent, after all he was the one who said he does not belong on the second line and it was his job to find a replacement.

Following the Nabokov thing, the Isles were a "laughingstock" on Hockeybuzz message boards, not among people around the game and the overall media. The Nabokov move was more puzzling because the team was out of it already and they put a waiver claim in on a guy that wasn't going to get them into the playoffs. Doesn't mean that it wasn't the right move, just a puzzling one. The Visnovsky thing is entirely different.

During the summer, the Isles made a trade for a player that immediately upgraded their PP and "D" in a respectable effort to reach the playoffs. The trade was a smart idea by Snow and a sound, tactical decision made to improve the team. Nobody can blame the Isles for a) not exhausting every avenue to get this player, who can legitimately help this team on the ice, to honor his contract, or b) blame the team for simply giving into Visnovsky and trading him to where he wants to go and throwing away a second rounder in the process (a pick they will not recoup by trading Visnovsky away at this point, since everyone knows the Isles are over a barrel with Vis right now).

Usually, the Isles are the ones handling a situation badly with questionable and puzzling decisions. Not this time. They are 100% in the right and I applaud them tolling his deal if it comes to that. There may be some "damage" done as a result of this, but certianly not nearly as much damage than if they said "well, okay. We'll trade you or let you out of your deal". The team would look like laughingstocks if they did that. I applaud them holding this player accountable to honor his contract and do whatever they can to improve their roster.

there is no DP thing...
I dont hate the Guy for being picked first rather then 5th
I do not hate the guy for signing a contract
I do not hate the guy for trying to honor that contract & play
I will not hate the guy for this team letting him play

none of this is his fault, but he is blamed for all of it & then some.

Now.. do I want him off the team.. YES..
The Healing.. Its just not gonna happen
The productive starter is just not in the cards for him
the reliable back up isnt either

Until he is released, bought out, traded or retires, as long as they are going to give him a roster spot, I am going to hope for the best for the guy.

He should be given the same place as Gomez and Redden this year. At home to be bought out, un-injured in the summer.

I read a few things that weren't positive(not just on hockeybuzz, hopefully x wasn't referring to HB posters?) as far as the Islanders are concerned. In that kind of situation nobody wins.
