Streit has been ok for us...I think he'll rebound this year since its his contract year. Weber would come cheap...might be best available...could be put on waivers too...

I have a funny feeling that Streit will resign with the Islanders. He loves it here. I know he is getting older but still

I wouldn't mind that, (expecting him to have a rebound year) But if he sucks for 20 games... trade him at the deadline.

Make him report & sit in the stands all season

Problem with that approach is it makes the isles look bad. Makes the isles look spiteful and vindictive. It fuels the haters and the bad perception of isles management among the NHL players. Right now, the isles look like the reasonable and rational party to this dispute. They should continue to take the high road and welcome Visnovsky with open arms if he decides to report. Don't worry, he likely won't.

there is no DP thing...
I dont hate the Guy for being picked first rather then 5th
I do not hate the guy for signing a contract
I do not hate the guy for trying to honor that contract & play
I will not hate the guy for this team letting him play

none of this is his fault, but he is blamed for all of it & then some.

Now.. do I want him off the team.. YES..
The Healing.. Its just not gonna happen
The productive starter is just not in the cards for him
the reliable back up isnt either

Until he is released, bought out, traded or retires, as long as they are going to give him a roster spot, I am going to hope for the best for the guy.

This team doesn't move forward as long as RDP is on the roster. He needs to go from both a roster perspective and for the sake of allowing this organization to turn a page and move on from one of the biggest mistakes and worst eras in team history.

Listen if we keep him & toll him we look vindictive
If he comes & we play him we look stupid
If he comes & we dont play him we look petty
I we trade him we look soft

How does this turn out where we dont look bad?

Personally I want him here & playing...im used to us looking stupid

Let's face it...the guy is playing for his home town, probably sleeping in his own bed, playing for who I think is contending for the KHL version of the Cup and he's at the tail end of his career. Unless the KHL repects it's deal with the NHL, he's likely to just want to finish his pro career overseas. I don't think he has any aspirations to come back to the NHL. If by not reporting to the Islanders he's banished from the league; well, I think he's ok with that.

I respectfully disagree. I bet that if he wasn't traded or if he was traded to a contender, he'd be over here in training camp already. if he doesn't want to come back to the NHL now, it's only because he was traded to the islanders. If he wanted to stay in Europe all along, he wouldn't have filed the grievance to void his trade. He did that because he knew he wanted to continue his career in the NHL and wanted to do it with a chance to win.

I disagree. I think they look good doing just what they are. They have every right to suspend him and toll his deal if he doesn't report. It's not vindictive to toll a deal of a good player who can help you improve your team if he plays when he doesn't report.

Exactly. Personally, I don't want to see this guy ever play a game for the Isles. But ultimately, forget about what it looks like to anyone. Do what's best to win hockey games. If he's going to be a distraction and a black cloud in the locker room, then they shouldn't keep him around just because some other player may draw some nonsensical conclusion from that. Montreal is not worrying about what it looks like that they told Gomez not to report. The Rangers signed Redden to a huge contract and buried him in the minors without worrying about the optics. Players still want to go there. I don't think the league's players are watching this situation intently to see what the Isles do with Vis to decide what they think about the team. If that were the case, Vis wouldn't have done what he did because the Isles "sent a message" in their handling of Nabokov. Each case is different.

This is the argument I've always made, from the other side of the issue. Not going to get into a deep, philosophical discussion here, but I don't "hate" anyone. What I hate is seeing the red lamp repeatedly light behind my favorite team's goaltender, which is what has happened nine starts of ten for this particular individual since the day he took a knee to his head in a game against Montreal- what now seems like a LONG time ago, at this point.

What needs to be understood is that it's not HIS fault, really- he's not going to retire if he doesn't have to. The problem is that when a coach repeatedly uses someone who can't do his job, I have to think that, being as the coach gets paid to WIN hockey games, that directive is coming from the guy who is paying the player. At some point, however, even THAT GUY has to understand the connection between poor goaltending and losing games. At some point, it doesn't matter how often the player says he's "good to go", and how eager he is to play- if he can't play, he should NOT. They're not going to trot my fat a** out there to play the goal, so why should anyone else who can't play be out on the ice in a professional game?

I'd like to see him retire for OUR sake, but he's not going to. So until Wang brings himself to admit he was dead wrong about this one....or more specifically, that sometimes "sh*t happens", and players get hurt, destroying their usefulness, regardless of what they are being paid, we are going to be stuck seeing him at least 4-5 times a year, and we just have to "pray" he gets hurt again....which is ridiculous...
