I agree with Martin's take on this. But you can't just trade Visnovsky away. You can't do it. I don't care what type of "distraction" he is. You can't reward Visnovsky by giving him exactly what he wants, which is to not play here. If they do, the isles will be getting this type of nonsense from veterans forever.
In all fairness, I don't know how much affect the visnovsky "distraction" will cause. It's not as if the team is on the precipice of a cup run. It's not like its Crosby holding out. As much as it sucks, the isles must play hardball here and guys like Martin know it and likely respect that. - Jethro09
Nowhere did I mention trade him.........you cant. Not because of rewarding him, but noone will want his no showing a$$. I said look elsewhere, as in chalk him up as not showing up.
As for the distraction, im saying if he did show up, i'd think a lot of guys would look at him like "who the phuck do you think you are". So again, i say, count him as not coming, and look elsewhere.

When the Islanders made the trade in June, TSN thought that if the Islanders were not in playoff contention they could send Streit and Visnovski to playoff teams looking for puck carrying defensemen for high picks. Then Snow could try to move the picks either into a top place in the draft or get NHL quality players. I guess Visnovski put a wrench in that plan. - kear20
Im always furious when i hear about behavior like visnovsky. Not because its the islanders but because its an embaressment to the sport, and to the players. Its ok for this guy to make his money in the US, but all of a sudden he's homesick? Well put on your big boy pants, and honor your contract. If it was good enough to cash that paycheck on year 1, then you should honor the final year as well. Its gutless, and he outta be ashamed. I'd have more respect for him if he said he didnt wanna come to a mickey mouse organization. Stop with all the excuses as to why its NOT the isles.
As for Garth, he talks about character etc. Do you really want a guy with this type of "charactier"? Didnt we learn from Yashin? Guys who hold out like this, or act like they're bigger than the team, are not who you want representing your organization. They're gutless.....with no heart.

Wonder what it would take to trade for Tyler Myers? - kindlyrick
The Isles could not afford his bonuses, let alone his salary. Wang would have a cardiac ..... hey maybe you are on to somthing. |

There is just no way that Wang takes on Gomez' contract. Garth can say 100 times that Wang has never constricted him with spending, but you cant be barely making the cap floor and expect people to believe that. I understand the reasoning, but the bottom line is still the bottom line. Wang does not allow that type of contract on the islanders.

How about Huskins...looks like a decent defenseman...offer a two year deal. There is Campoli out there but he sucks so I guess he would fit in... |

Huskins is getting old, but is a stay-at-home D, might be serviceable, but only on a 1 yr contract, not 2 |

I\'m not defending him in any way but, take a step back here. It\'s a job. If you worked for a company in another country, you signed a contract for 2 million and another company offered you 4 million and was in your home town, where you were loved and adored. You would have a tough decision too.
Just saying |

How do you know he was offered more money in the KHL? If you believe the old \"i miss home\" line then i have a bridge to sell you. As i\'ve said before, if he was traded to the wings or the rangers, he\'d be there right now. Job or no job, you honor the contract that YOU signed. He had no problem missing his hometown on year one of that deal....
Sidenote: Kenny Johnnson will forever be tainted in my mind for leaving to go back early for sweden and not finishing out his contract. Its unprofessional. |

want Yandle
hes the perfect offensive D-man to replace Streit, and teach/guide the kids
I spoke with the Coyotes blogger about it the other day, he mentioned it would take alot to pry Yandle away. I started with Okoposo + pick, (cause they need offense) he said more an that..... |

Good on Matt Martin. Truth be told, the Islanders defense has been very shaky for years now. Visnovsky fills two giant holes, a defensemen that\'s actually decent in his own end and another offensive threat. Our power play could be outstanding with him.
I\'m all for the screw you argument but the isles traded a #2pick and can\'t afford to just let him walk for nothing. I expect the isles to play hardball and they should. The players will get over it if he works hard at practice. - Isles316
i agree...anyone who saw the mighty ducks knows that adam banks came onto the team as a hated ex-hawk, once he started producing and the ducks started to realize this guy can play is a half decent guy, charlie and company rallied around him.
lets go isles! |

I guess you would need to add Reinhardt and Strome...so it would take Okposo, Strome, Reinhardt and a #1 for Yandle...still interested? |

well not to support Snow, but we actually needed to stockpile on talent bc every pick is not guarenteed to become an NHL player (or even a good one)
but now I would probably trade future picks since we have some talent stocked |
