Interesting tweet from Brooks: I think this means Redden and Gomez can be bought out now...

hahaha....this is hockey not a kumbaya. its business. for whatever reason everyone assumed he would sign with the red wings, without realizing that a team could pick him up off of waivers...isles playing by the rules, they looked fine.

I agree with what you're saying. The whole situation may have looked bad to fans andwhat not, but it is a business. And I personally think snow did nothing wrong. any gm would have grabbed nabby for league minimum when we had our sixth string goalie in...playoff bound or not

Why would the Rangers want to buy Gomez out for Montreal and wasn't Redden signed after 2008?

Four years of stocking up and rebuilding the prospect pool. Which the team would have been in the bottom 5 four years ago.

Now we are in the top 5.

We are moving next year... the team has been losing money every year.

With the new CBA, and new arena... this team will actually have money to spend.

The new season started 48 hrs ago!!!

Did any of you guys follow the LA Kings for the last 6 years... please go back and check out their past.
This rebuild can work...

Give it a chance!!!

Wow... just Wow!!!

I don't even know what to say anymore... pretty sad...

Yes and also alot of other teams. These other teams showed improvement. We have not. There is no progression with this rebuild. Zero improvement. Have you been paying attention?

Yes I have... did you not read the part about being bottom 5 in the prospect pool to top 5 in 4 years!!!

I know some people don't see that as an improvement... but when FA are signing here, and you're losing 20 million a year this rebuild was essential.

With the move, and new CBA, and a boatload of prospects... you have to give them this year to make the changes necessary.

If Wang doesn't spend the money... then you have reason to hate him.

Snow can only do with the money he has.

He may say he can spend whatever he wants... but what is he suppose to say. Wang is being a wiener and won't give me the money to spend.

Let's just see what happens this year... on and off the ice...

I can't wait for the in house fighting on Saturday night!!!!

Actually the kings were bottom five for years and then all of a sudden made the playoffs. They were 29th, drafted doughty, made playoffs last three years and won cup.

Do you think teams in the west who had to play the Wings down the stretch and in the playoffs thought the Islanders were wrong? Not so sure about that.

Im with you. Kings drafted very well, and added how much star power? richards, carter, gagne...i think they signed scuderi after he won the cup in pitt. Scuderi is very solid also.

The NHL Network was talking about on their season preview show tonight. The NHL and NHLPA are trying to find away where the Rangers can buy out Redden and Montreal can buy out Gomez before the season starts so they can play with another team.

"I think consistency had a big part in that," coach Jack Capuano told NHL.com over the summer regarding the team's shortcomings. "I thought that times throughout the year, our battle level was high and our will to compete was high, but special teams went through a little bit of a funk. We just didn't generate the offense like we did in the second half of the year.

Ah, Cappy, your team was actually 8th on the PP for the year. Granted, 23rd on the PK, so maybe he's referring to that. But overall, they were last in team plus/minus, 26th in 5-on-5 goals for, and 28th in 5-on-5 goals against. I think the problems extend well beyond "a little bit of a funk" in special teams.

- UIF

Yeah....if it wasn't for our power play last year, we'd have been dead last, by a long shot. Our 5 on 5 was cr*p, flat out...

Exactly... what did they use to trade for star power... the prospects drafted in the years leading up to their success.

4 years ago we had nothing to trade... now we are in a better situation.

Saw it........kudos to Martin for going with a man that size. Anytime my team has a chance to get a guy who can skate and play physical, im ALL for it. Nicely done by Snow.
- kindlyrick

I watch quite a few Sabres games every year, and I can honestly say I have no idea who Finley is

I'll reserve judgment one way or the other until I see this guy skate a shift...either for the Isles or Bport.
