I totally agree with this.........not to mention Finley can skate. No problem with this signing whatsoever. I think most people on here who understand the game don't have a problem with it either. People are just tired of the isles always going the cheap route. The olddddddddd waiver wire. Garth lovessssss a bargain!!

There's nothing wrong with this signing...it's just very "run of the mill". I can't see it making an imact for the team either way. I hope I'm wrong. I wouldn't say it to that big effer's face though!

I think Finley fought Martin last year... didn't he?

I have to go on youtube... be right back...

- jimmc7722

Saw it........kudos to Martin for going with a man that size. Anytime my team has a chance to get a guy who can skate and play physical, im ALL for it. Nicely done by Snow.

You cant ever have enough crease clearers. Being able to skate and play physical is exactly what the isles have been missing for years. Team toughness is important.

I've said this before, but ask Nabakov who he wants clearing the crease for him......Ness or Finley. Ask Tavares who he wants on the ice when someone elbows him in the head. Yes its run of the mill, but its a good pick up .

Mon 2:41 pm: They keep piling it on!!! Add to the free admission of the scrimmage and free parking and $1 hot dogs & sodas a 25% discount in the team store!

What else you need???

Dee,

Here's what I need:

1. A new owner;
2. A new GM not a backup goalie who sucked when he was a player.
3. An NHL coach not some loser AHL coach...
4. Just move to Brooklyn...screw Nassau County...they screwed us for the past 10 years...if not longer;
4. A power forward who plays RW. Someone who can score and can play with Tavares and Moulson...think Clark Gillies...
5. A top 4 defenceman who has played in the NHL
6. A #2 center so Neilsen can be the 3rd line center...if it's Strome so be it...let him play...
7. A reliable Goaltender...give Poulin or Neilsen a chance...

I think that's all for now...but if I miss anything we'll let you know....

if this team is under 500 after 15 games I bet Cappy gets fired. If they're over 500 after 30 games he gets an extension.

I dislike having him as coach and think of him as a muppet, but this is what I bet will happen. Maybe he'll become another assistant to garth snow.

He's not a great fighter, but he's big and willing to go. 6 ft 8 245 and can skate well.......total "do". Glad he's on the isles......we could use him.

I was thinking the same exact thing.. damned if he does, damned if he dont.

If he did more of the "does" doubt very much he would hear as much shat? He just doesn't do much of anything and anything he "does" do is BS moves like this Finley guy. Give me a break with the Wo is Garth cr@p. The guy deserves it.

There is something wrong with this signing if this kid is being expected to fill a regular spot on our blue line. That's not exactly going into the season with a winning attitude.

F'in guy is damned if he does, damned if he dont, he picks someone up.. no good.. he doesnt trade for someone that got traded.. no good... You & I both know that if he picked up either of those guys that were traded all we would hear about is hoe Garth can only get nobodys, where is the big time trade??

Gimme a break, he has not added anyone significant to a roster in desparate need of significant help. Picking up some former first round bust does not warrant any appreciation from the fan base nor should it.

Have you seen the Isles D? My guess is he is staying up with the big club until he proves he can't. I don't know much about Finley other then his fight with Martin last year

Exactly, and that is precisely what's wrong with this teams management.

I scrolled through (quickly, i admit) and I didn't see anything suggesting that Strome is making the team (not that its not there, I just didn't see it). Again, I can't see a scenario whereby Strome is put on the team to play top six minutes for 48 games during a lost year, and the Isles burn a year of his contract for a season in which they're going nowhere fast. If they were skating him in camp on one of the top two lines, I'd expect to see him during the season. The fact that he's buried on the fourth line indicates to me that he is up for the experience and the team will be sending him back to Jr.
- Jethro09

I thought there was a quote(maybe one of the newsday stories) that said he would have to win the job as 2nd line center to stay with the team....

Regardless, yes, it's an abbreviated season, so experimenting is risky but could he be worse than reasoner for the 5-games he's allowed to stay? He's tearing up the OHL...I think he deserves a taste. Def agree he shouldn't be on the team if he's only gonna be a 4th liner.

Smart move, on the other hand leaving Nino in Bridgeport to continue playing....he'll be a call up but having him attend a week of training camp is useless...he's already in game shape.

I dont have a problem with the pick up. The guy is 25 yrs old, 6'8" and pushing 260 lbs. He likes to hit, has a mean streak and dropped the gloves often enough with mixed results in the AHL. Only 5 games (2 fights and a minus 3) in the NHL so what else can you say?

He's not the greatest fighter but he's willing.

We are bound to have a game or two that see's the opposition taking liberties. Carkner and Finley on "D" along with Martin and Boulton will send an immediate message that the Isle are no pushovers this season.

We all wanted some more toughness and now we have it.

We will have to see if Carkner and Finley can play some "D" though.

Besides with the signing of Finley we put Wishart on Waivers!

It aint Subban but no one with a resume' will be brought in until the team moves to Brooklyn.

Snow is clueless...check Gallof's tweet below:

per local Rochester paper, waiver clause MIGHT give Sabres 1st right to get Finley back if #isles try to send to Bridgeport in 30days

- kear20

But he aint going to The Bridge!

He's our #6 "D" man.

To make room for TJ Brennan evidently? I know nothing about the guy besides he was a first round "bust" as described by a few. Just from what little I saw about the guy on line. If you go on the Sabre message boards nobody seems upset about losing him, knocked on his skating and his game. Doesn't sound overly impressive and I'm not overly shocked.
