Oilers picked up Mark Fistric from Dallas for a 3rd round pick. He's young (26) left-handed, big (6' 2", 233), a defensive defenseman. I have no idea how good this guy is but is this not a move Garth could have made? - ses111
HE could have.. doesn't mean any other GM in the league knew he was available

cappy is quoted as saying if strome stays hes on the top 2 lines.
unless you want strome playing on the 2nd line center, nielson is the 2nd center.
marty reasoner is a 4th line center...far from an issue.
pap sucks
you concerned that martinek is back or that hell get injured? which one? - LetsGoIsles
For the past 2 days at camp, Strome has been on the 4th line. I'd imagine if the plan was to keep him here, and play him in the second line role, then he'd be practicing with those linemates. Nielsen is NOT a second line center...he's a great 3rd line center, and a less than average 2nd line center. Reasoner 2 years ago produced around 15 goals (not sure exactly) came to the Islanders and I believe scored 1 goal, and it was proabaly the 80th game of the season. I like Martinek a lot as a player, but yes, I'm VERY concerned that he'll get injured because he kinda has that reputation. |

Ah yes another bone head move by Snow just to tell the fans I TRIED!! - kasperrko
F'in guy is damned if he does, damned if he dont, he picks someone up.. no good.. he doesnt trade for someone that got traded.. no good... You & I both know that if he picked up either of those guys that were traded all we would hear about is hoe Garth can only get nobodys, where is the big time trade??

Come on X Garth needs to be awake and make calls. He had a break during the lockout he needs to be ready to work and be in on some trades. |

dude just face it he is uselss. We want him to pick up guiys who actually play in the NHL not guys who played 5 games and is a carrer AHL player. that does not help at all. Look for guys who actually know what it takes to stick in the NHL not guys who cant crack anybodys line up so we pray for the best |

I'm guessing that as far as Snow is concerned, the knowing Wishart isn't any good outweighs the not knowing anything about Finley, at this point. That said, at that size, this boy had better bury some people, or you can float that driftwood right back out to sea.... - dcb1
actually, since the job of GM is to acquire players for the team, it IS GARTHS JOB to KNOW EVERYTHING about the players he brings to the team.
Do you shop at the grocery store with a blindfold, hoping what you pull off the shelves will make a meal? |

He hasn't gotten to watch this kid on the ice with his team at the NHL level is what I'm saying here...knowing everything about who they are and what they've done so far versus knowing everything that will happen in the future are two different things.....otherwise, I'd have won the lottery a LONG TIME AGO.... |

Snow is clueless...check Gallof's tweet below:
per local Rochester paper, waiver clause MIGHT give Sabres 1st right to get Finley back if #isles try to send to Bridgeport in 30days
- kear20
Why would he send him to bridgeport in the next month? The team carries 7 defensemen. Visnovsky isn't coming. Donovan isn't getting called up. That leaves Streit, A-Mac, Hamonic, Carkner, Martinek. Two spots left. One for Finley for 30 days then he's Isles property.
Besides, this is a rather insignificant move, Who cares what happens with AHL roster aquisitions? Everyone knows this team isn't making any significant or impactful moves until this coming summer. |

Strome is not making this team. that's why they're skating him on the fourth line. They're going to keep him around for camp then send him back to Jr. No way they bury Strome on the fourth line after going through the Nino nonsense last year. This team won't have a legit #2 center until next September. Bank on it. |

I should have written "if ever" after "this coming summer". But my point remains that the Isles are viewing this as a throw-away year. Just another year to get kids more experience in Jr. and the "A" and to get closer to the Barclays. |

Dee Karl: Free Isles Scrimmage & 2 Camp Practices, BST Win
You asked, they answered. - Dee Karl
Mon 2:41 pm: They keep piling it on!!! Add to the free admission of the scrimmage and free parking and $1 hot dogs & sodas a 25% discount in the team store!
What else you need???
Mon 2:16 pm: Just added $1 hot dogs & sods to that free scrimmage with free parking. Come & Get it! #It'sHockeytime on Long Island!
Will Ricky be serving the hot dogs to the fans, like last season? Bet they don't taste as good as the free ones.... |

I mean if they do nothing next year then I dont know what to think of this team anymore. I would have to say soemthing big will eb coming our way once we move to Brooklyn/ Right now I would take Snow getting canned and Cappy going back to the pizzeria. |

As per Snow we now have the prospects to pull off a nice trade and get some players. So far well nothing has been done - kasperrko
where have we heard THAT before?
Oh yeah, after the 2011 draft. Thought it was familiar.... |
