looking at the practice lines, I think they're content with keeping Bozak at the top, and might put Connolly on the wing.

Sucks that Frattin gets 3rd line duty for Connolly to keep his job, and Brown gets the pine... but it's not the worst line-up. |

does anyone think we may trade or buy out liles? If one of the D we have in the AHL shows up and is a reliable NHL'er. After he came back from Injury he was awful.. didnt look the same. Or Maybe Rielly steps in to replace some of the offence next season.
With liles and Komi off the books, thats a lot of cap space - senstroll
Not a chance.
Liles will not be bought out...that's just foolish and I doubt we buy out Komi |

Just double-checked - the conditional 4th round pick was based on Lombardi playing 60 games - he hit 62 last year.
No point in sitting him now.
Other than he sucks, of course. |

Strictly a cost-cutting move by the Ducks.
His salary wasn't a problem, but they were spending a fortune on lettering. - Atomic Wedgie

Frattin is a banger...not really a second line guy.
If anything (if he makes the team) he should be on the 3rd line. |

Is this going to end up in a UG style tantrum if we dont draft Petrov?

He's got a good shot, good speed, and is physical. Working up from the 4th line isn't the worst thing in the world... but he could definitely find a way in the NHL making room for skilled guys on a secondary offensive line. |

Put Mac on 2nd line.
Put Frattin on 3rd (or maybe even 2nd)
Put Connolly on 4th.
And wait 10 games before realizing JVR is crushingly disappointing, and drop him to 3rd for Kulemin.
Big rebound year for Kulemin. Keep your fingers crossed. |

28 goals 53 points, leads his team in both, one of the highest scoring draft eligibles out of the Q despite a mediocre team. Fairly physical and a solid defensive player. 6'0 214 |

JVR won't disappoint me. It's possible he does well, but at the end of the day you can't teach heart.
Bad trade IMO. |

Sounds good, I need the scouting report from QP to make it official.
I have to admit I have not heard of this guy at all. |

Meh, Kulemin will go back to being a 15 goal guy, not expecting much out of him.

But in Liles defence, the Leafs only scored 8 goals over their final 32 games. |

Most of the league doesn't have heart...doesn't matter...at least he has talent.
Will he put it to good use? We'll see....for leaf fans, we hope he does.
And "heart" is a mindset, mindsets can be learned. |

I'm going to sit down on Saturday morning with a big cup of coffee and my laptop, pour over the stats, and decide who my whipping boys for this year are going to be.
Bozak is always a possibility.
Komi, of course.
Franson, because he's the greatest Leafs defenceman to have never done anything to earn the reputation that some Leafs fans think he deserves.
But JVR is a strong possibility to be my #1 this year. I just get the feeling watching the guy avoid traffic like Jason Blake is going to drive me nuts.
Stay tuned - I'll be making my announcement just prior to the opening puck drop. Should be a really nice ceremony. Aki Berg will be part of the proceedings. |

how many guys from the Q that fall out of the 1st make an impact?
Lemme answer: going back to 2000, you've got Bergeron, Marchand, Letang, and Vermette, and Clowe.
Maybe Latendresse, if you want to call him an impact player.
But really, that's 5 guys, going back a decade(recent drafts don't count) |
