Not buying that he is available. Do you have a link to what you are reading that makes you think he\'s on the market?

The asking price also makes it sound like BS. Especially days before a half-season starts.

Just following some tweets, I think I heard this rumor from the questionable HockeyyInsiderr... perhaps I got sucked in. Either way it is interesting conversation. Personally I would much rather be giving all that up for an elite center than for a winger.

...And I know Hockeyy Insiderr\'s sources are about as reputable as Ek\'s... but it\'s still fun to read and to ponder and to some extent, dream!

I\\\'d still love Darcy to bring on Getzlaf. Change of scenery could do him good. Although Lindy would probably put him on the 3rd line...
- Pairo11

On what line would u put a guy who scored 11 goals last year?
I know u think he rebounds w a change of scenery,
But the FACT is...
-his goals-per-game has been dropping every year for 5 seasons now
-he\'s never scored more than 25goals in a season
-it would cost A TON to get him
-to re-sign him would cost A LOT
-there\'s no guarantee he even would re-sign

That\'s 5 solid reasons I\'m not willing to risk that \"a change of scenery\" would work
And to be frank, of a \"superstar\" needs a change of scenery, he\'s prob overrated and not a true superstar
If he\'s declining with Perry & Ryan on his wings,
Who do we have that\'s better than them?

I\'d entertain the idea of Perry or Ryan WAY before I\'d want getzlaf

And besides all that,
I like our center depth with Grigorenko & Girgensons joining Ennis & Hodgson

Where I think we really need help is top4 defenseman
(I\'d really like us to get a top pair guy)

Trade Myers and we can get a top flight Center, he needs to put on more weight for his size........Chara he will never be.
- SABRES 89

Big year for Myers this year. He needs to show he has not plateaued. I\'ll draw a football comparison: Andy Dalton has been good for a QB in his first 2 years, but you havent seen that jump where he has shown solid improvement. Myers similarly has been good, but hasn\'t seen that huge jump in his quality of play.

For me, this is a season in which Myers has to show some kind of leap forward in his development to be considered more than just \"good\". Myers can\'t afford to plateau if the Sabres want to make noise.

Size, talent, and physicality rarely blends itself together like it does with Getzlaf and Perry. Look how hard it has been for the Sabres to acquire a top line center since 2007. Grigorenko is the first guy with legit potential to fill that void.

The Ducks need to do what it takes to hold onto that kind of talent or they will be chasing their tails to replace it for some time ala 2007-present Sabres.

- Gunner Staal

Sort of like Rick Nash, Jordan Staal, Joe Thornton?? Star players with elite attributes get traded every year. Why would Anaheim be different?? Briere and Drury Left in free agency, and trust me I would be less bitter if one of them were traded before they walked. Difference is we were a contender

I doubt it happens he would get us a very good number 1 center in a package deal and we have other pieces to include. Lindy holds players down and will continue to do so.

All valid points. No, I\\\'m half talking out my ass when I mentioned this. I\\\'ve had a man crush on Getz for years. I\\\'d still love him in Buffalo. Grigo and Girg\\\'s are years away IMO (hope I\\\'m wrong)...

How old is Myers?
Do realize it actually took chara till he was around 29 to become the stud he is now?
Myers has shown enough to warrant some more time to develop into the stud d-man we need him to become,
Let\'s give him the time to do it
Very rarely do defensemen come in & dominate right away
Usually takes longer for them to develop than forwards for whatever reason

His problem is consistency, when he plays well, he is by far the best player on the ice. Lindy needs to tell him to keep his game simple, he\'s trying to do too much

No one will ever mention that. Chara wasnt Chara until 6 years into his career. Not to mention the only thing him and Myers have in common is height

Time that\'s the Sabres seem to have is TIME, TIME and more TIME. To much hype with Myers and not enough \"Game\" he needs to gain some weight if he ever has a chance to be a \"stud\" D man.

Chara and Myers is not a valid comparison, its a lazy one. Only similarity is their size.

The reason it took so long for Chara is because his skating was sub par for NHL standards. His delay was skating related. Chara always played with physicality.

Myers already has very good skating skills/hockey skills for his frame. His issue is that he plays too nice. Nothing stopping Myers from taking the next step in his development other than him. The skill set doesn\'t need the same development that Chara needed. He just needs to make a choice to play with more sandpaper.

Girgensons is a couple years away
I think Grigorenko is here to stay by next season at the latest
I think all $$$ we have should go towards defense for next season
I know we have A LOT of good defensive prospects,
But the only one IMO who could be a top4 guy by next year is McNabb, and that\'s questionable
With Leopold & Regehr being UFA at the end of the season,
That leaves us with ONLY Myers & Ehrhoff as top4 quality defensemen for next season
I\'m hopeful McNabb is ready for that role by next year,
But who takes that 4th spot?
IMO, we need to sign or trade for that guy

And this is a problem. You really can\'t teach someone to grow balls. You can see that he\'s tried to play a more intimidating style over the last 2 years but it was almost painful to watch.

This is a big year. If I see a little more toughness and see him get angry I\'ll feel a lot better. If not he would be awesome trade bait..

(leaving room until that last part blows over)

Agreed. And from what I\'ve read on here and other sites it seems if McNabb has taken a step back too. When he got called up the first time or two I thought he was years ahead of the game..

Fair enough,
But I think he\'s still developing and we\'ve yet to see his best
At any rate,
Say we did trade him for this center u want...
That leaves only Ehrhoff as a top4 quality defenseman on our team next year

If I\'m trading Myers,
It\'s gotta be for Weber, seabrook, etc

Your trading Myers to get a top flight Center not another D man.

I would still take a young meyers vs a young chara
Meyers has more potential for numbers and be a better all around player
He is his own man ie Meyers

John Scott will darken Charas eyes along with Lucic this year anyway

Meyer\'s is a freak. Size and skating ability. If he plays alittle pissy! He\'s a beast!! To unique to give up on.
