Interesting Mr. P. Does Hawk nation want Bolland to be an offensive or defensive center ?
- philco28

I still would rather see Bolland on line 3. But I don't believe in old-time lines. I believe in playing the lines pretty evenly. I think a guy like kruger can have a big year playing with Sharp and Kane, too. Having a guy like Bolland check the top players with Shaw and still produce some decent offense and timely goals is huge. It really creates match-up problems and lets either line 1 or 2 face inferior checking. But ideally I'm with everyone else: get a number 2 center. Look into getting O'Reilly

Tough, yes. Clean....Debatable. He toes the line frequently, and gets in his fair share of cheap shots. I would not call him "classy" by any stretch.
- Ogilthorpe2

He might be a class act off the ice but Doan plays like a dirty dog when the house money is on the line and theres nothing clean about it

Do not have draft picks to offersheet...............

Really think it is ridiculous that anyone wants to take a run at Torres unless he does something first.

Would rather have them just beat the poop out of them 7 or 8 to zip. If anything I would send people hard through the crease and look to catch that bozo goalie of theirs.

Losing Torres really doesn't hurt them, however if you want to play the revenge game right, make the rest of the team suffer for having that idiot on the ice with them.

Doan is the opposite of class. Did you see him acting like a baby in the handshake line last year after being eliminated by the Kings ? What a punk. Its Doans fault hes been on a poopty team his whole career. He could have been a free agent before. He likes playing in the non hockey area of Phoenix. No pressure.

Regarding Doan, I've heard he's classy off the ice, but he intentionally checked Toews in the back of the head during that series last spring.

Regarding Torres, Bollig was on the ice when Hossa was hit and went after Torres. Torres turtled so hard that he dropped to his knees. Also I think Bollig got a game misconduct. If I am remembering correctly, Hossa was KOd, Bollig got a ton of PIMs and Torres was allowed to continue playing.

Thats exactly what Im remembering. The cross checks to the back of Toews head when Toews was face down in the crease. Torres is a piece of poop but I would be targeting Doan and Smith too

It was a joke, and allegedly Rocky got in Bettman's face about it that night. What I heard was he was "livid."

We haven't had any Shanahan bashing in quite a while, but if he has another year like last year I am personally going to lead the Dump Shanny Chorus. He was absolutely dreadful.

Shanahan was mental last year. He got the Torres suspension right though. Even though I would have rather seen Torres out for the playoffs AND 25 games this year.

Shanny is a complete phucking joke and a sorry-ass sign of all that's wrong with the league and its NBA-reject of a commish.

Personally, Shanny has sold out to the world of the suits, but in his prime, he could play with the Tomahawk anytime.

With all due respect Philco, I couldn't care less about his playing ability. I agree that it would have been sweet to see him play for the 'Hawks. But him being in the position he's in, and allowed to continue speaks volumes of the highest level of leadership. How that ass-hole Bettman still has a job is beyond me. Maybe Chelios' comments about him many years ago were truly spot-on.

Funny how Bollig was out there for the Torres hit and retaliated yet, Mayers was benched the rest of the series for not acting in Hossa's defense.

That seemed to be the case. If accurate, that's one of Q's moves that I can actually agree with.

While you may agree, Hossa makes the pass to Mayers and as Mayers drives down the ice the hit happens behind him. Was Q alluding to Mayers not going after Torres the remainder of the game?

Understood, but if you don't mind...can you just flesh out your anti-Shanny position for me a little bit. I haven't been following his role as much. What has Shanny done, other than being a Bettman sycophant, to raise your ire. I say this respectfully as well, please enlighten me.

I dunno, Shanahan seemed to be very careful about stepping on the toes of some GMs and owners last year. There is a problem in the NHL, going back along way, where the equeaky wjheel gets the grease, and all the make-good crap that follows.

Basically, meet the new boss same as the old bloss. Shanahan is just a more telegenic Colin Campbell minus the embarrassing emails.

I had read somewhere that his failure to respond was indeed an issue. However, he also wasn't playing particularly well if I remember correctly...so it could have been more or less a secondary infraction to the staff. I do know that Jammer was brought in for more toughness, and that (without being stupid about it) would have been the time to use some of it.

I think he was benched as Morrison had a better pedigree in terms of offensive upside. And they were having big issues putting the puck in the net.

And I don't know what Mayers could have done since Bollig sprinted at him and started swinging. Plus another misconduct and possible suspension would have been not good.

Again... Hitting Torres isn't the way to do it. Hammering the absolute crap out of their best players accidentally on purpose (Doan, maybe super hard slash, tell him its because of that F-Bag Torres OTW to box) or crash the net... hard... and again otw to box make it clear to them that they will suffer the consequences for their teammate being a clown.

I agree, and on top of that the first goal hadnt been scored yet and in a tight series such as that one retalitory acts need to be at the right time.

Making the other team mad, angry and want to get revenge, plus getting a Win.. more important this year then having someone get a 10 game suspension for being dumb.
