It's not a matter of did he earn it - it's a matter of the organization thinking he's the best (untested) option at this point, given the present current roster and the apparent absence of anyone proven being brought in from the outside. - StLBravesFan
Nothing to lose by trying him there. He's done everything that's been asked of him (and more) in a primarily defensive role, time to throw him an offensive bone and see what he does with it. If it doesn't work out, then he goes back to 3C and/or eventually gets traded. |

Interesting Mr. P. Does Hawk nation want Bolland to be an offensive or defensive center ? - philco28
I want him to the head of the twins whenever the Hawks play the Nucks. |

No doubt.
My #1 hope for this year is to have Raffi Torres killed by Bolig or Shaw or Carcillo or Brookbank .
After that rage subsides ID obviously like to see the Hawks get competent on the PP again so they can win in the play offs. |

I like Bolland getting an extended look at 2C. Bolland will likely need some time, I think, to settle into more of an offensive role. He's capable, but it requires a change in mindset, which probably won't happen in an instant. Point is, Q should not make this a short audition.
With Shaw (a natural center) and Kruger centering the other two lines, the Hawks could have some better balanced lines. I'd prefer a hard-skating, meat grinder type center on the 4th, but having Freddy there could allow some additional playmaking/scoring on that line, causing match up problems for other teams. That may be the intent if Frolik remains on the 4th.
But, these three centers have to win more faceoffs. |

Step #1: No Duncan Keith on the point on either PP unit #1 OR #2.
That will go a long way towards fixing what IS broken.

Keith needs his ass on the bench during the PP . If the Hawks don't move Leddy he needs to be ON the #1 PP. |

If Carbomb does kill Torres, his "rep" will get him a long term suspension.
On another note:
Jimmy Hayes has been recalled. |

I think the better candidate to handle the job is Bollig -- a few inches taller and about 20 lbs heavier than Carbomb. I also think he's more up to the task.

Quick update on McDoughnuts. This cheap ass ownership group is unreal. As a season ticket holder, I have been held hostage with a $5700 payment on my credit card. If I had been given a choice, I would have taken my money back this year, but that would have gotten me kicked to the curb. Now comes a new shocker, the marketing team has not sold out all the games. Because of this, the season ticket holders will not be able to resell tickets on the exchange. It amazes me and makes me sick at the same time when this organization actually speaks and says they care about the fans. They give a rats ass and this marketing guru with the New Dollar Bill Wirtz in charge will once again destroy this organization. Give it time folks, 3 years Toews and Kane gone and we will have Marcus Krueger and Andrew Shaw lighting it up for us. |

Maybe Mayers could make up for it since he was on the ice when Hossa got destroyed and he did nothing.

It should be a wave . The 1st 3 times Torres touches the ice the Hawks should make him fight. If he doesn't then run Smith over again. If the Hawks throw one game to shenanigans this year I hope its against Phoenix. When is that game by the way ? |

Yeah, I could add how imperative it is for a puck possession team to actually win faceoffs. The Hawks aren't a real punishing team, thus chasing the puck is far from ideal with this roster. |

torres wont fight bollig.. he might fight carcillo. I suppose he'll realize he has to answer for it-but the hawks dont usually care too much about this stuff if the guy gets punished by the league. they never went after him for the Seabrook hit. The hawks leadership (on and off the ice) just wants to win games. |

Whoever it is...they better do as good or better than McQuaid did. Torres is a decent fighter and could hammer out a result. I hope he doesn't, but he grew up with a bunch of older brothers who apparently used to rough him up pretty good, so he doesn't mind throwing down.
Torres better hope he doesn't get Paul Gardner'd

And likely improve his play. He plays noticeably worse when he plays over 25 minutes a game. Seems like a win win, if Q and the boys can figure it out |

The more I think about it - if Shane Doan is such a great guy and all, it really should be him to kick Torres' a$$. Tell me, in terms of the NHL brand - does Doan think it's better to have Torres on the ice or Hossa?
I say the next game against Phoenix, go after Doan. F him.... |
