Yep, I agree. Again, right or wrong, Quenneville likes Emery. And I think the team likes Emery.

I can also see them taking a what the hell 2-3 game flyer on Hutton.

I can also see them yet making a deal for a goalie.

- John Jaeckel

Emery won't lost in a condensed schedule with his glass body. I like guy, but he is very slow side to side, and if he's the insurance policy IF/WHEN Crawford bombs...look out.

yes...i suspect many teams/GMs will be looking at this 1/2 asterik season as a transition/evaluation period. They need to figure out how the new CBA rules are going impact and how to work with in and around them. I just don't see any big trades during the season unless injurys figure in.

Also Al as you point out typically after 48 games maybe 1 or 2 teams in each conf are out of the running. Competition will be intense inter and intra team.

..And in the Hawks case a "need" doesn't necessarilly mean a 2nd line center...

The teams that pick up a depth dman or a PK specialist who can win face-offs are also filling a need. But those players could be in tight supply as well.

Bolland at 2C = duct tape at the expense of the shutdown line. Shell game. Fix a hole by creating another one.

Bowman's comments about the cap are all anyone needed to hear. There will be no deals of significance to add to 2C or goalie.

Just like the Bears - same gaping hole year after year, and the same ineffective responses to to "address" them.

Accounting > winning in Stan's world.

- Return of the Roar

Those are the talking points, it seems:

"Well positioned for the future (from a cap standpoint)."

"Prospects are on the way."

"We like our team as is."

As long as suckers keep chumping up for season tickets, there is no business reason for them to do anything else.

I don't disagree. When Plan B and Plan C are Ray Emery and Carter Hutton, then Plan A should be better than Corey Crawford. But it is what it is.

See the post immediately above about suckers.

is this free?

Go to NBC sports.com on Saturday. NBC streams other games live there. So you you can take HDMI cable from Lap Top to LCD and viola...watch it live...for free.

Live in Florida, had to do it a few times last year with the regional stuff.

Anyone know if NBC is planning on streaming the regionally broadcast games on Saturday?

Living in Northern Ohio, I am saddled with the Pens/Flyers game, rather than Hawks/Kings. I'm hoping they will stream the feeds on nbcsports.com like they did last year on Hockey Day in America last year, so I won't be totally shut out.

Anyone heard?

Went to school in Northern Ohio at John Carroll University. Best move is to get the gamecenter package if you have an Ipad or Laptop. The Ipad worked extremely well and gave me a real nice feed.

Normally, after 48 games, only one or two teams are out of it because you're barely 55% of the way through the season, and there's still 34 games left to make up ground. This year 28 games (percentage wise) is the same as 48 games in a normal season. How many team's will be out of it after 28 out of 48 games? That is the question.

The link above is cheaper for NHL and you get all those games from other leagues.

I was looking into Gamecenter Live but Indianapolis is considered in the Comcast Sportsnet Chicago region even though my cable company doesn't carry the channel. From what I've read, the Blackhawks games would not be shown live to me because of my location. The funny part is my cable is through Comcast.

Too bad the NYR have neither a goalie (available/worth it) nor a center (available/worth it) to deal back.

Put Barry Trotz in Q's place and you would quickly see a much smarter team on the ice.
- Ogilthorpe2

I guess the difference between you and me on this subject is that you want Q fired and I prefer that it is Bowman Jr. fired.

And as far as Barry Trotz is concerned - what's he ever won?

Interesting. Boyle or Rupp would be two of the kind of players the Hawks need.

I understand the frustrations, but ease up on the hyperbole. For years the Cubs took money in hand over foot and trotted out bad teams with payroll far under what it should have been for their profits. You can be mad at Bowman for inaction all you want and I am with you, but at least be honest about the Hawks spending. The Hawks spend to the brim of the cap and Rocky has paid guys like Huet and Olesz to play elsewhere to not hurt the cap.

Stan may not make the moves you want, but don't act like the Hawks are spending on the cheap or that their roster deficiences are based on them wanting to make a profit over investing in the team. Rocky's pocketbooks have nothing to do with why they have no #2 center or a viable goalie.

Exactly. Poor/lack of moves is the issue, and that's on Stan 100%

To be clear, I want them both fired.

In last couple years, Trotz has done more, with less, than Q could ever dream of. Trotz would kill for the kind of roster Stan has "saddled" Q with.

Trotz is one of the top coaches in the game. No question.

Like you, I think they both need to leave anything short of this team winning at least 4, maybe 8 postseason games.

Quenneville needs to adjust to his roster, but Bowman also has to be flexible in making trades for PROVEN talent instead of holding prospects close to his vest hoping they all pan out.

I look to the independent sources for prospect updates and evaluations. Hawks always over hype their farm boys. The fact that Bowman is trying to hang his hat on how great his prospects are, and buy time is sickening.

Is anyone else apathetic about spending $ on the NHL this year? I'm excited that hockey is back, but I'm conflicted as to whether I should get Center Ice. Additionally, Hawks are coming to the Shark Tank in a few weeks. Normally that date would be circled on my calendar, but I'm just rather 'meh'.

Again, happy it's back. Better than the alternative

Lets clarify. Regarding streaming.

JJ's option is best overall for hockey.

NHL Gamecenter is nice as well, but you don't get NBC games. So that is frustrating at times. This will not be a good option for Saturday.

Due take note that any games on NBC are streamed on the NBCsports website.

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/45340521

NBC has not been good about getting this information out.

If you make that trade, who slides into the pair with Oduya? Roszival? You need a steady, defensive defenseman, to play with Oduya. Just like you did with Campbell.

I am not against it, but can this team afford to play Roszival top 4 minutes, and Brookbank on the bottom pair?
