Maybe Alt told them he had no plans to sign with them

Could be, but why add Bouch to the mix?

And I'm still fine with Leighton as a backup. We have no idea what's going on at this point. If Leighton is waived, it doesn't hurt the team one bit.
- MJL

Exactly. And then Leighton can sign with the Flyers again next year.

It would be a waste of time, even if Del Zotto wasn't just re-signed by the Ranger. Would you really think the Rangers would decline to match a one year Offer Sheet for 3.3M?
- MJL

My original point which is completely out of date now, is that making the Rangers pay more for any rfa at this point will hurt them because they are headed for cap hell next year, and armegeddon the following.

Gomez will NOT be playing in the AHL this season; he will not be playing anywhere until his contract is bought out this summer.

Interested in seeing what he signed for. I love the Rangers defense. It's amazing what drafting well in that position can do for you.
- MJL

And having the Canadiens throw in a high level d prospect while agreeing to take on the worst contract in the sport.

3.3M is making them pay more? A one year Offer Sheet is a complete waste of time. Especially for such a low Salary. And do you really want to get into that game of messing with other teams just to try and drive up the salary of other teams players? With the Cap issues the Flyers have in the future. Not a good idea.

Exactly what I thought was going to happen. Makes sense. We'll see if the Rangers do the same thing with Redden.

They are don't want any injury to happen on their watch that could stop a buyout from happening.

He should have never been signed to a contract after the Stanley Cup Finals, and not because he allowed the softest goal ever to decide a SCF, the fact that he's a career journeyman. He's really a fringe backup at best. It's become comical at this point.

Why don't we find out what is going on first, before completely overreacting and making a mountain out of a molehill.

Absolutely. Agreed 100%. I don't have an issue at all with bringing Boucher back, and I like the Foster deal, Flyers need depth on the blueline.

For the life of me I don't understand why the cord wasn't cut with Leighton. Just don't get it. Whatever. Not really a huge deal.

I think it's because he is a solid backup tender and none of the young prospects are ready yet.

if healthy, Boucher is prob a better b/u because of he can play at an acceptable level w/o needing a lot of work

35-40, with a 2.95 GAA and a .902 save % career, while coming off back surgery doesn't make him a solid backup imo. But it really isn't a huge deal, just puzzling to me.
