#flyers I'm told trying to get G Brian Boucher back as backup goaltender. Have to work out deal with Carolina. Stay tuned.

Interesting. Doesn't make a lot of sense, but who knows.

I'm told the #Flyers have reacquired goalie Brian Boucher from Carolina for Luke Pither. More on this in a bit. #NHL #CrazyDayAlready

So what does this mean for Leighton? Confusing.

This is weird. May be they are going to go with a tandem of Leighton and Boucher and just send Bryz home til they can buy him out... lol

Is Boucher on a one way contract? Could he be destined to play for the Phantoms?

Why do we keep signing Leighton? I think Homer is lost when it comes to goaltending.

He'd have to go through Waivers.

Tons of people were fine with Leighton being signed as the backup, first day of camp and the guy is already finished. Such a waste continuing to sign this guy.

Really dumb.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

CAR trades goalie Brian Boucher and prospect Mark Alt (his rights) to PHI for minor leaguer Luke Pither.

Interested in seeing what he signed for. I love the Rangers defense. It's amazing what drafting well in that position can do for you.

I think signing Leighton to back up was wise. He's not nearly as terrible as everyone who blames him for losing the cup says he is.

Getting Bouch doesn't really make sense though unless someone is hurt.

And I'm still fine with Leighton as a backup. We have no idea what's going on at this point. If Leighton is waived, it doesn't hurt the team one bit.

I think the Flyers should offersheet Del Zotto the highest 2nd rd tender of 3.3 mil for one year. There is really no downside.

Currently the Rangers are offering 2.4 for a couple of years. This year they will be able to match easily with 5 mil left in space but next year that extra million, plus a 10% increase to qualify, could hurt them. They have 6 mil under next years cap with Stepan, Hagelin, and most importantly McDonagh needing to be signed. Even if they buy out Redden, it was going to be tight. Sather always plays hardball with the rfa's. he typically doesn't sign them ahead of time. If McDonagh continues to progress this year I think he is definitely worth a 1st and 3rd compensation. So sign Del Zotto this year; if he matches sign McDonagh next year for a larger one. The Rangers are heading for cap hell next year and especially the year after, when their entire roster save Nash, Richards and Stall is up for unrestricted free agency. Adding a couple of million to any of their players salary would definitely be worth it.

Last some might say that the Rangers can then go after Flyers players, but the Flyers always lock up the ones they want to keep well before they hit rfa status.

Hmm, he was a second rounder in 2010. I am wondering if this was a salary dump for the Canes? Why else would we get a second back with Bouch. Maybe Phantoms?

It would be a waste of time, even if Del Zotto wasn't just re-signed by the Ranger. Would you really think the Rangers would decline to match a one year Offer Sheet for 3.3M?
