Interesting that a goalie can manage to hang around the league for 10 years and not even be capable of backing up, hmm.

Bouch is a solid backup and so is Leights.. Good to have a vet backup as insurance. I think this works best too because he can work back into shape seeing as how he had hip surgery.

I'm too excited to see a game to squabble over back ups. Both are fine with me

Any News and notes outside of the minor trade and signing? I assume with camp beginning today, there must have been a practice held and we should have some idea or what the line combinations are.

I posted the Kovalchuk video over in the devils forum as a sign of good sportsmanship and they deleted it.

Really? I had read it was hip somewhere. My bad.

Also, it's quite interesting that if Gervais is in, we will now have 3 right handed d men.. can't remember the last time that was the case.

Interesting on Bobby Lu.. I forgot that teams can now eat part of the salary of a guy they trade..

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=413468

It may certainly make him more tradeable to a team even though Gillis doesn't think it will be required...

Flyers could potentially be carrying 9 defenseman on the roster. Depending on what happens with Walker.

I doubt very much that Laughton and Mcginn would be in the opening night lineup, but you never know. I thought I read that Meszaros was rotating on different pairings. I do not think he will be ready to start the season.

Also, Briere is having an MRI tomorrow to determine the severity of his injury. Hope for the best with that situation.

Meszaros practiced today. He rotated on different pairings. Hopefully he's a go to start the season and Lilja and Gervais are in the press box playing rock, paper, scissor with Shelley to see who fetches the popcorn.

Wow, Meszaros an option to be in? The defense does look more threatening with that one signing today. I question the Flyers keeping Laughton. I question them even more by having him on the second line. No Briere to start the season, that's a huge loss but I assume he won't be out long. Looks like I was wrong about Rusty centering the 4th line. If Rusty really did play his best again Malkin's team over seas and Couturier against Malkin in the playoffs, I would have thought the 2 of them together would have made for a pretty much shutdown line.

Any new numbers on players of note? Is Bruno wearing 27?

If Meszaros can go, I'd rather have Gervais dressed than Foster. Mesz isn't going to be moving real fast and combine him & Foster and we'll relive the days of Hatcher & Rathje in slow motion.
