Hard to imagine why VAN would increase the price, unless they expect to use the amnesty as a get out of jail free card in negotiations by implying to Nonis that they don't have actually have to trade him in order to rid themselves of his contract.

VAN is really hoping the Leafs are slow out of the gate this year.

Meanwhile, Nonis can hold firm knowing that he's one of the few who will even do a deal, otherwise VAN loses Luongo and gets NOTHING in return.

Yeah I'm more or less in the same ball park.

Based on what Nonis has said to the media, he doesn't intend on paying the sum Gillis wants, and is willing to give Reimer and Scrivens one good kick at the can.

But if the Leafs experience problems in their own end in the first week or so, then you can bet things will heat up quickly
