I don't think the Leafs should trade for Lu. Scrivens is the ticket anyway, and it will stunt his development and handicap future space.

Dion's contract expires after next season. That has to be attractive to Gillis.

It's not that intruiging for Gillis when you look at the Canucks cap situation next year. Even with Ballard(amnesty buyout) and Lu(traded) gone, there still going to have a very hard time fitting in Phaneuf's cap hit. Like I said, I think MG would rather just extend Edler at a cheaper cap hit at that point.

Which is unfortunate. The only way it happens is b/c the ownership group wants to make a 'splash'. Whereas, keeping the space free and giving Scrivens a chance would be best. If that doesn't work, trade for a younger goalie contract.

I agree. All getting Luongo does, is eat cap space, stunts the growth of the young goalies and keeps us out of the top 6 in the draft. Lose - lose - lose!!!

We get rid of Theo in the trade to Van. Clem to the AHL or traded for something. Markstrom backs Lu up while Lu starts for two/three seasons. They split starts. Lu retires or is bought out. Markstrom takes over. All by 2016. Markstrom isn't rushed. He learns from the best. And the Panthers have the best 1-2 goaltender punch in the NHL. Ala Vancouver with Lu and Schneider.
