HMMMM mabie your on to something here......... It's been wide spread that a key component to Burke's firing mabie due to something about Luongo. Here's a hunch, mabie the Canucks are willing to take Phanuef straight up for Lu and Burke refused. That trade makes sense for the cap since they both are over paid. Could it be Phanuef for Lu straight up? Makes sense for Van. Instead of having a $7 million dollar backup, they could trade him for a $6 million dollar d man. Better to use the $6 million on the defense than a back up goalie sitting on the bench.

Van fans may laff but a Phanuef for Lu trade makes perfect sense in every way. Plus a bonus for Van is that Dion's contract is up after next season.

Nuge is on a slightly higher level than Kadri, and so has the moves to avoid the contact more. Not to mention that Kadri plays with more of an edge and goes harder, where I've never actually seen Nuge initiate contact with someone's body to try and get the puck.

I'm not against it if Edler is asking too much. He can replace Edler and we can trade him this season for second line help. I don't know if that works cap-wise for us next year though. Phaneuf and Edler are pretty similar players, but with the money Phaneuf makes we could just extend Edler unless MG wants to move Edler for second line help like I suggested.

Well, that's not what I was trying to say. RNH was drafted 1st overall for a reason, and Kadri was not a Top 10 player in a weaker draft. The system here was (could still be) horrendous for a guy like Kadri, but then you also had Luke Schenn have an awesome rookie year. Gunnerson developed just fine, and it would seem the Marlies competing for the Calder recently helps development. Yet, that still hasn't helped Kadri. He's unmotivated for the Leafs. For Vancouver he might be better positioned to try harder but I doubt it. He's not a Top 6 player on that team.

If he ever gets his head on straight, he'll be a fantastic specialty teams player who can put up reasonable amount of points every year. Like a go-to type UFA contenders sign year in year out.

RNH is only listed at 171 yet he's full time. Maybe its your system as much as the player

Lu makes 5.3 a far cry from 7 mill. If we get Neon he would be siting beside our new back-up
