We get rid of Theo in the trade to Van. Clem to the AHL or traded for something. Markstrom backs Lu up while Lu starts for two/three seasons. They split starts. Lu retires or is bought out. Markstrom takes over. All by 2016. Markstrom isn't rushed. He learns from the best. And the Panthers have the best 1-2 goaltender punch in the NHL. Ala Vancouver with Lu and Schneider. - Panthers88

Some interesting tidbits from new CBA
1. Tagging space: Temas will get to exceed current season's cap by 10% from March 1st on in terms of tagging space. Tagging space is basically in place to keep teams from spending over the current year's cap in cap commitments for the next season. This should help facilitate deadline trades.
2. No changes to LTIR or over 35 rule
3. Amnesty buyouts can be conducted either in summer of 2013 or summer of 2014 during course of normal buyouts
4. Bonus cushion is active in every year of the deal, including the final year.
5. Teams can exceed cap with emergency call ups, so long as the emergency call ups salary is no more than $100K per year over the NHL's minimum salary
6. Re-entry waivers are eliminated and cap hits of players in AHL will count against cap(at ratio mentioned later)...i.e. Matt Walker, who will likely be on LTIR, would count as $800k against Flyers cap if he was a Phantom
7. UFAs will get a week to talk to other teams before free agency starts on July 1st. This will likely end the trading for "rights"
8. Teams can trade cap space/salary at a limited rate under the new CBA
9. Suspensions can be appealed to commissioner, suspension over 6 games can be appealed to an independent arbitrator
10. Much more stringent attention to PED testing and far more scrutiny to prescription drugs. Teams will have to designate somebody to monitor all player precriptions
11. Players can report poor ice conditions thru a NHL maintained app that will help keep good ice surfaces at all NHL arenas
12. Entry draft-all non playoff teams will be involved in a weighted lottery and all have a shot at picking number one. previously teams could neither rise, or fall, more than 4 slots.
13. Waivers is now 24 hours, regardless of what day. Previously, players waived on Saturday would be on for 48.
Would LOVE to see the Pens bring in Benn to play wing with Crosby...not likely to happen, but perhaps: Martin, Despres, Tangradi, Kennedy, 1st round would be an equal return value???
Still makes no sense for the Stars, since they would need a top C in return...but I can dream, can't I? lol
Toronto is going to need to make a decision on Phaneuf soon, this would make that decision easy, Alberts is an expiring contract that could play this year, and Raymond has an expiring contract and could fit into the second line this year if Bozak is moved.
Van gets a good defenceman in Phaneuf for 2 seasons, and a center in Bozak. The salaries are pretty even.
If they trade Phaneuf, they would have to admit that he was brought in for marketing and selling slurpee cups... they will not do that. - Beatle_john
Not sure how that makes any sense at all. Phaneuf was acquired for bit parts, he is a very good defenseman. He would improve your defence immensely, and gives you a damn good option if Edler decides to leave.
Why would Nonis have an issue trading a player that may not be a part of his vision in 2 seasons.

Seriously, it's like Christmas, you would rather trade Kassian over Booth. - Mystery
WTF? Kassian has not prven anything except that he was benched during the playoffs. Booth has a pedigree ... but in the Eastern conference in a city that does not care.... add to that, Kesler --- and he is a great player --- is fameouslyselfish.... so Booth needs at least a year to get used to playing in the west, with actual players on a team that cares.

Dion has done nothing for the Leafs, he costs as many goals and he scores/sets up. Actually he costs more, how many time have you seen him turn the puck over on the pp then coast back to fish the puck out of the net
