I hope so. I've been to a few Marlies games this year and Ranger is by far the best defenceman on the team. Great skater, good passer, decent size. He's a legit NHL defenceman.

I hope so. I've been to a few Marlies games this year and Ranger is by far the best defenceman on the team. Great skater, good passer, decent size. He's a legit NHL defenceman.

Gardiner is already a Leafs d man, but besides that, he isn't an overly impressive AHL player. Ranger is a better player than Kostka. Just watch a Marlies game and see the situations Eakins uses Ranger in, and you'll see the evidence.

Yeah, me too. Apparently other reports suggest the leafs will offer him one.

One thing I found interesting in all this Burke-Nonis stuff is that Nonis pushed hard for Eakins to be hired last spring. Clock's on Carlyle now, working with a group that is hardly suited for his style. And so it goes.

In all the games I've seen Ranger has definitely been a stand out. Whether he looks for the NHL contract is another thing (at least for this year), but so far he has been a great addition.

How did he torture dogs? He let them live out their fantasies of killing each other and gave them a roof to live under. Good on him. Not to mention there's plenty of dogs out there, it's not like there running out or anything.

well the reasoning for not wanting to play for the Leafs makes little sense - he'll be on the road more and going west if he stays with the Marlies. Playing for the Leafs will give him closer to what his apparent goals are (staying close to home).
