Really? I didn't hear this. That is stupid as hell- it is now like baseball, except, without the added 2 weeks of inter-league play.
Upshall will bring some much needed leadership, and is much better off in the lineup than Kovalev (if forced to choose).
Hope both work out though. Would like to see the Panthers make a run. Esp after the decimation of the Marlins
- FLflames34
need to cut time and expenses for travel. Finals will be cool since teams 1st time meeting this season. Same as they did in 95. |

Btw... are you, as a Leafs fan, in favor of the proposed Kadri, Bozak, and 1st round pick for Luongo trade? - Panthers88
Terrible trade. It should be Kadri, Connolly and a 2nd for Luongo |

Makes sense I guess, but the East still has a much better travel schedule regardless, so this bodes well for their side doing well this yr. Or, maybe not.
NJ did win that yr after all. |

Ugh, don't mention that pathetic excuse of a "professional" baseball team. Complete disgrace to pro sports. |

I disagree. They are quickly realizing the immovable asset that Luongo is.
And of course, every leaf rumor ever has to include Kadri. It is a given.
What they are trading for is a relief of space long term. Connolly helps, salary wise, for this yr then is UFA so it works.
I guess you could throw Raymond and Riemer in the trade if it satisfies both sides, but no way Bozak or a 1st should ever leave to make the Canucks happy.

But with the buyout clause in the new CBA, the ball really is in Vancouver's court. |

That's why I thought the trade made sense from our POV. Throw them Theodore or Clem to back up Schneider. But Vancouver wanted Bjugstad. No chance in hell.

Wait a few weeks and their demands will go down. Luongo will be poison as a backup.
I agree with Burke though, they dont NEED Luongo. I think Scrivens will prove to be the future #1. So, FLA may be the best (and only) destination, reducing VAN's bargaining power. Therefore:
To FLA: Luongo, Raymond (or Hanson)
To VAN: Theodore, Matthias (or Goc), and a 2nd + 4th
Florida doesn't really need the picks as much at this point. |

I found it funny when the nuck fans think that we would trade him. then said I am a idiot because I wouldn't do Lu for him straight up. A 20 year old potential number 1 center for a aging goalie... |

Yep. The Wings would be the most logical. It is still pretty ridiculous they moved the Leafs years ago and not the Wings.
To the West: Jets
East: Wings
I am fine with the Predators being in the West. |

Edit: and I know that sounds may sound low but I honestly think that tallon isn't going to do much more then that unless upshall is in that trade. |

Not sure you'd want to give up on Macfarland like that. And to do it as proposed, you would prob have to up the pick to a 2nd, or maybe, a 1st.
I don't think VAN will do it unless they get a game-ready player, a pick, and (perhaps) a backup goalie.
Unless you give a surefire prospect which is unwise. |

Ya very true so I could really only see sending somebody like upshall maybe goc. And I am not a fan of trading away prospects. And cats won't trade 1st rounders tallons loves the draft to much!
But I think if Van can't find a partner to trade with next year they arnt going to get nothing for him. |

I think the reason you move Nashville to the East is for simplicity's sake.
Nashville -> SE, Winnipeg -> NW, Minnesota -> CEN
Moving DET or CBJ to the Southeast division makes very little sense, geographically speaking. Moving them to the NE division would make the most sense, but then one of Buffalo and Boston would move out into the Atlantic, which would mean that one of the Atlantic division teams would then, in turn, have to move into the SE.
That would happen if either CBJ or DET were moved into the ATL division as well. I don't think that's a desirable outcome because who would you move, from the division where almost every team is an close geographical rival?
I assume, though, that the realignment will be more extensive then this, given all this talk before the lockout of a 4-division system. |

This needs to happen!!!!
Smythe would be awesome:
Van, Cal, Edm, Min, Win, Col, Phoenix (Hamilton?)
Norris:
SJS, Anaheim, LA, Dallas, Chicago, St. Louis, Nashville, CBJ
Adams:
Buffalo, Boston, Toronto, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Ottawa
Patrick:
Montreal, NYI, NJD, NYR, Florida, Washington, Tampa, Carolina
(if they want to re-name divisions for, say, Gretzky/Lemieux ect that's fine too) |
