I can't reconcile how a recluse would want to play under a microscope. I'll give you that he's an elite off the rush goal scorer. That's it. He doesn't back check, he doesn't cycle the puck, he plays with absolutely no heart and passion in his game and he has no desire to lead. I don't know how you can consider that an elite player. - 1979AD
He reminds me of Tony Tanti of the Canucks. Easily the best hands, top goal scorer for 3 or 4 years, but no one outside Vancouver considered him elite and few inside Vancouver did either. He did not play a fully rounded game. He, as is Kessel, is a one-trick-pony. Now they are EXCELLENT at what they do (or did) but it is still closer to an excellet one dimensional player than an elite player.
Still, I am sure every other team would want him, but they would not want him as their centre, core, and only valid top 3 player.
Elite players make the players around them better. See: Alexandre Burrows. |

(frank) the Leafs drafting has been awful. - AdamFrench
Scott Thornton, Rob Pearson and Steve Bancroft...
OR!!!
Bill Guerin, Olaf Kolzig and Adam Foote...
Think that would have made a difference in the 90s?

I'd rather not think of that one.
I used to have a poster with all three of them on it. |

Phil should take 2 minute shifts and smoke half a pack of smokes between periods. |

I'm pretty sure he means the Sisters have made Burrows better, not that Burrows is an elite player. |

Funny thing is, if they had traded up to the #2 position, they would have taken Dave Chyzowski. The guy was a "can't miss" prospect.
Say what you want about Scott Thornton, but he had a better career than Chyzowski.

If u wanna move him to the highest bidder u have to do that before the NTC kicks in this summer... - Fruitcakenipple
I'm good with him going to Florida, for Huberdeau and a first, Markstrom and a first, or Huberdeau and Markstrom. I'd even send them Ben Scrivens, if they'll add a 2nd rounder. That would do two things. It would get us a good return and almost guarantee that Luongo ends up with the Panthers. I have a feeling that Florida is going to be the odd man out, in the south. Carolina has improved, Washington will be stonger and Tampa is also on the rise. Lets get that deal in the works! |

If they Do it right they can pick 3/4 times in the first round
Kessel gets u 1 pick plus
Lupul gets u 1 pick plus
Dion gets u 1 pick plus
And u could get one for Mac ( a late one ) if he plays well - The_Vark
this sounds like an UGnizzum ...... |

In Stellick's defence, Ballard had gutted the scouting staff. They took 3 Belleville Bulls because that's about all they had scouted.
Seriously, I'm not exaggerating all that much on this one.
And 1989 was a pretty weak draft year. - Atomic Wedgie

I think FLA is banking on Markstrom to be their stud goalie for the next 10+ years. I highly doubt they'd move him for Philip. |
