Take it from me. If he starts talking like Parise, and guaranteeing he'll resign, that is a sure fire sign he is gone.
- WayneZ

Was that comment why NJ fans insisted for months that he wasn't going anywhere? You guys were SOOOOO sure he was staying.

That would be cool...realistically what kind of return would you want from StL?
- BoBBeR56

Who knows what they're willing to give up but they do have Berglund, Tarasenko and many others. Could be juicy.

Good luck trying to find equal value from the top 8 teams in the NHL, chances are very, very slim that you will find a top 6 scorer with the 22nd to 30th pick. What is the point trading him for some prospects that might be good, it is a losing proposition for still a young player.
- LeafMan

If u trade him now u have a better chance trading him 2 a team that's not as good and trying to improve .... And depending on how the season works out it could turn into a top 10-15 pick

Pay me or I'm leaving attitude is what got him in Toronto in the first place. Add to that a pressure filled market and a bad team and you got one ticket to Splitzville.
- Two_For_Truth

So let me get this straight: you supported the NHLPA throughout the lockout like a 15-year-old groupie on Justin Bieber's bus, but Phil Kessel is a greedy SOB who deserves to be ridiculed and pissed on because he had the audacity to ask for an amount of money above what the cheapest owner in the league was offering in a restricted labour movement arrangement?

I love Friday afternoons.

I can't reconcile how a recluse would want to play under a microscope. I'll give you that he's an elite off the rush goal scorer. That's it. He doesn't back check, he doesn't cycle the puck, he plays with absolutely no heart and passion in his game and he has no desire to lead. I don't know how you can consider that an elite player.

If the Leafs had a bunch of middle and late 1st round picks, plus their own top 5 pick, they could definitely make a play for 1st overall or multiple top 10 picks if they traded up properly.

What a draft day that would be.

Leave it to Damien Cox to try to turn him into this sympathic figure. Maybe you all want him back?

Honestly, I'm not too chuffed about his lack of backchecking. For wingers, it's forgivable.

Did I say Kessel was wrong? Nope. But it doesn't mean the Leafs would be wrong in trading him before he gets to do that to them either. Maybe you should read a little closer before you cream your pants trying to attack me.

And Kessel has never scored 50-60 goals and 100 points every year for a six straight years.

In Stellick's defence, Ballard had gutted the scouting staff. They took 3 Belleville Bulls because that's about all they had scouted.

Seriously, I'm not exaggerating all that much on this one.

And 1989 was a pretty weak draft year.

Stelleck was the original Maple Leafs puppet GM. Instructed to take Luke Richardson when he had his sights on Sakic.

Burke could have called on Uncle Lou for some help, but he burned that bridge by plunging that knife in Lou's back during the Kovalcuk debacle.

Oh ya - but Guy had a real first line centre. Phil rules!
