I understand the importance and necessity of moving back into rebuild mode (trading Kessel etc)... but myself along with plenty of other Leaf fans will not be able to endure another 3-5 years of poopty play and no playoffs... part of me wishes they just get Luongo and make an exciting push for the playoffs this season... its just been toooo many years of garbage... give us some excitement for (frank)s sake - We_Miss_Sundin
Yes, 'blue and white disease' is alive and well. You should get that looked at. |

We have come to the point we want all to fail instead of hoping they do well, it is completely screwed up.
Let's play these guys and hope they fail, just not right , imo. - LeafMan
Blame inept management for not doing right the first time. It has to be done eventually.
You think that by hoping this team does well and pushing for the playoffs will solve anything? It's just delaying the inevitable. If the Leafs extend Kessel, acquire Luongo, make the playoffs a few years, get their ass kicked where it matters most, where do the Leafs get ahead? In five years, everybody will be gone and what will have been accomplished? A few years worth of illusions isn't worth it.
It sucks that the best way to get better is to get worse but that's the way the system is. Until that's drastically changed, it is what it is. A necessary evil. |

Man this drama is sickening.
Just make the bloody deal Nonis. You know it's gonna happen.
They're probably just arguing over a 8th round pick at this point |

Seeing how a guy like Anderson turned Ottawa around I wouldn't be surprised if a goaltender who stops pucks would turn this team around |

That's such a load of crap. Do you have any idea how many people said "we can't handle waiting another four years" when Burke took over as GM? Guess where we are now? Four years later with the same people saying "we can't wait another four years". It's bullcrap. In Toronto, people have waited 45 years. What's another 4 or 5 if things are done right? I would much rather wait another four years and see the streak snapped at 49 years rather than hit 50 years and still be waiting around for a GM to rebuild the team the right way. |

There seems to be a illusion that the leafs are close to taking the next step towards being a playoff team..

they, like us, were projected to be a bottom of the barrel team.
They had much of the offence that we had, yet they made it(playoffs) and we didn't because they were secure in the most important position in the game |

No, we need a scorer who scores in the clutch and is a leader on the ice. We don't need a streaky player that fills the net against the Islanders and Columbus, but isn't anywhere to be found against the Sabres, Habs, and Bruins. - PrinceLH
I have to go but I will dig up his point & goal total breakdown which I saw the other day, it will surprise you that the vast majority of his output was against playoff teams so that blows your whole argument out of the water but haters will hate, can't change your minds. |

The Leafs have a different GM and owner.
It's four years later.
It's the same message of making 8th place and being mediocre.

No it means your team is improving. The playoffs are a whole different season, get in and you can win. But i don't see the Leafs as a team that will succeed in the postseason yet,, or even close |

Doughty, Kopitar, Carter, Richards and Quick.
Give me a call when the Leafs have equivalents to that core of players and then we can talk about winning a Cup from 8th seed, something that's been done once in the history of the playoffs, by the way. |
