sounds like Iginla's idea more than Feaster. It is clear he gets uncomfortable being asked trade questions after every loss, so why not lay it all out beforehand so it doesn't distract? - FLflames34
He's still going to get hit with questions like crazy on the road. |

I agree, they'll state Feaster and Meehan will be in negotiations to get a deal done and Iggy will try and create some distance between himself and the non-hockey aspects of the deal.
Iggy will not faulter...he's one of the most consistent goal scorers in the league. No way they take him off the PP.
That being said you are right, the circus has come to town!!! My gut says he re-signs for 3 years 15 or 4 years 18-20. I'm fine with that....need someone to show the young guys how it's done. - The-O-G

Ask Leaf fans how the felt when Sundin left the org. with nothing, to only come back and join the Nucks for a few months. Had Sundin been on board with being moved, Im sure they could have taken in a few prosects or picks at the very least.
Hopefully we dont see the same in Calgary. - Colin Dambrauskas
I have changed my mind now that I realize teams can now talk to players before July 1st; hopefully they don't make the same mistake Toronto did, and trade Iginla if he isn't going to sign an extension for at least some prospects/pics. This way we restock the cupboard, and save 7 mill to overpay a free agent.
But, next week when they announce they have signed Iginla to a 5 year, 35 million dollar contract extension (I'm hoping any-ways). |

Would 4 years not take him until 40??? I thought that's what he was looking for. |

Some lines out on the ice this AM
Baertschi - Backlund - Glencross
Comeau - Begin - Jones
Butler - Jbo
Gio - Wideman - Colin Dambrauskas
I like it!!!
Not bad for a 3rd line....
Second line: Hudler-Cervenka-Stempniak?

40/41 whats the difference
Made an edit too...next two years he should be able to fetch closer to 6M then start to decline from there. |

Hmm, maybe the powers can make a new type of No Trade Clause; there is no way someone can be traded, even if the ask for it or if the team wants to trade the player. Call it the No Trade And Locked In Clause (ATALIC). That might stop the questions. |

They have to be announcing an extension, makes no sense for this meeting otherwise.

I think I would rather see
Cammi- Tangs- Iggy
Baert- Backs- Cervenka
GlenX- Hudler- Stemp
Comeau- Jones- Jacks
Im not sure where that leaves Stajan. Then again, a lot of these pieces are interchangable but none seem to be a great fit. |

I think you have to give him a shot on the 4th, and sub him up if/when an injury happens.

I'd actually be more excited for seeing the speed and skill of that 2nd line together and see if it gels. If so, as I believe, Calgary may have one of the 5 best top-6 groups in the West. |

Not bad....I really like that Baertschi-Backlund-Glencross combo though.
Good mix of skill, playmaking, scoring and grit. Also, they are all in their natural positions. |

Who is setting lines. Mark Howell? ( Mark Howell and Cory Cross, The U of C Hockey coaches, have been running the Calgary NHLers practices at WINSPORT)
I thought there was not supposed to contact until the deal is ratified?
Colin, find a way to put "Jarome Iginla " in all blog titles, good for hits! |

The Alberta Ethics Commissioner should investigate! Oh wait, he has no time what with his multiple investigations into our corrupt Premier. |

really, Detroit's 2nd leading goal scorer gone along with best two defence men
good luck with that - flashfire
Best two dmen? Best, absolutely. Second? No, Kronwall is now the "old man" on the Wings blueline. Krons has been taking over top minutes over the past few seasons and Lids was very rarely on th PK.
As for Hudler, I will be curious to see how Flame fans like him 2 months from now. Yeah stat wise he ended up "2nd" in goals last season but that's a bit misleading. He had line mates doing most of the work and fed him the puck. If the Flames have someone to feed him like he had in Detroit, he is quite capable of putting some points up.
A new team. New teammates and line mates. Fresh start. Maybe he'll do what is expected of him. But don't say you weren't warned if and when he disappears on a regular basis, is easily taken off the puck, and makes a bunch of bad passes. Most Wing fans aren't upset to see him go due to those bad habits along with his filing for arbitration, winning and still fleeing to the KHL for more money. |

Best, yes best in a generation, maybe 2 generations! I think Detroit is going to have a lot of trouble on D this season. A very average, even weak group top to bottom. |
