I really don't think they will do Iginla and most of the flames fans like that. If Iginla goes, it will be when his contract runs out. If anything, the flames can get a draft pick and a prospect for allowing a team to talk with him before July 1st. I guess I better get a ticket for the last home game of the season, just in-case it's Iginla's last!!!!

Kipper being traded at the deadline is what I think will happen if the flames are out of it.

New CBA gives all teams 7 days prior to July 1st to talk to pending UFA's I believe....

Ya we all know how this thing is going to go....but it's not like it's the end of the world if they do it. I think they are just trying to go ahead and get it over with now, rather than have every reporter every day asking Jarome the same questions over and over and over. It's going to be tough to stop those questions, but at least they can try.
- The-O-G

It will stop the questions at home but it won't stop the questions on the road.

I agree on Kipper, Iggy not so much. If we're out of it at the deadline you trade him and get a decent return. If you don't and he walks the organization failed...again.

You're probably right....and if it does that it's probably worth it IMO.

I think the media kind of blew the whole thing out of proportion anyways....I heard Feaster on the radio say they were going to address it, then all the media hype and spin had this thing going out of control like that 7 car pile-up on deerfoot this morning.

Much different than creating hype through the media.
- Fotiu666

I was thinking, we just got out of a lockout where fans are totally pissed at both greedy sides, a little bit of hype/circus & plot would probably be the best thing the organization could want to get people distracted & forgetting about that damn lockout. You would think.

Ya I mean either way it doesn't matter to me....I can see there reasoning for doing it, but after all the attention it has gotten maybe it's not such a good idea!

Yeah but really, if they dont say they have agreed to an extension or at least started negotiating, how can they stand up there and honestly answer questions about the future. If they falter & Iggy loses #1 PP time because kids like Sven & Cerevenka & Cammi get chemistry & are the only successful line, the circus will be full blown. I think its better to know that the circus is coming to town & aint leaving until either Iggy resigns or July 1, which ever comes first. Personally they should just say Flames are committed to winning this season & want to focus on a quick start & in the meantime Feaster & Iggy's agent will be having discussions about a contract extension. Bingo, take the heat off Iggy & put it on Feaster & Iggy's agent. When he gets questioned, he can plead the 5th & say contract discussions are ongoing with his agent & Feaster & he cant comment on particulars. We all know Feaster will never say they are going to rebuild & Iggy will never say he wants out of Calgary. So there you go.

There is no doubt loosing one of the greatest defenceman of all time will have an effect this year. But I think they will be just fine if the D cranks it up a knotch and Howard plays like he did last year, before he got hurt

On a positive note it looks like Cervenka will be ready for game 1.
- whipper334

Sure hope so, looking forward to seeing how this kid does along with Sven & I'm really pulling for Backlund to having a rebound year. I'm also hoping Brodie can crack that top 4 Def because I think Butler is an excellent #5 dman with the ability to play 3-4 minutes in a pinch.

I agree, they'll state Feaster and Meehan will be in negotiations to get a deal done and Iggy will try and create some distance between himself and the non-hockey aspects of the deal.

Iggy will not faulter...he's one of the most consistent goal scorers in the league. No way they take him off the PP.

That being said you are right, the circus has come to town!!! My gut says he re-signs for 3 years 15 or 4 years 18-20. I'm fine with that....need someone to show the young guys how it's done.

Going to have to disagree with you here. The Flames have not insulated their prospects enough, or allowed them enough playing time to move Kipper just yet. While he could certainly fetch a very nice payout, I dont see him moved for atleast another year until Ramo comes back.

Completely agree.......there isn't anyone even close to taking over at #1 this year, even next. Best we can hope is Ramo comes in next year, shows promise in 10-15 starts before the trade deadline and Kipper is dealt to a contender at the deadline for a healthy ransom

Ask Leaf fans how they felt when Sundin left the org. with nothing, to only come back and join the Nucks for a few months. Had Sundin been on board with being moved, Im sure they could have taken in a few prosects or picks at the very least.

Hopefully we dont see the same in Calgary.

I don't get the support for Detroit not faultering. Yes they have had many years of success and they have Datsyuk & Zett. But, like everyone likes to say about Iggy, these guys are getting older and both have suffered injuries the last few years. Lidstrom is gone as is Stuart and Holmstrom (most likely). I don't see them making the PO this year. To much growing pains and questionable defense.

By deadline day we might see Ramo here. Depending on the playoffs in the K.

I think he could go at the draft. It depends on the timing of our season and the KHL playoffs and how Rammo's team does. If the timing works out that we can see Rammo for a few games and he shows well, Kipper could be moved for picks and prospects. Best case scenario for the Flames anyway. CGY should be able to maximize a trade with a full year left on his contract with a low actual salary.

sounds like Iginla's idea more than Feaster. It is clear he gets uncomfortable being asked trade questions after every loss, so why not lay it all out beforehand so it doesn't distract?

One of the better explanations for the timing of the Burke firing, imo.
