Nash held all the cards in CBJ with his NTC. I beleive when that was all going down he gave the BJ's a specific list of teams he would go to. You don't think that made Howsons job more difficult.
I can't argue the contract, but if you really consider Luongo an NHL back up then I really overestimated you hockey knowledge. And as far a suitors go, there have been dozens of reports of "more then one team" in on Luongo. Maybe you can give me an exact number of how many "suitors" Luongo has. You seem to know. - fiveandagame
Well I know he's obviously not a backup, although he is in Vancouver right now, and he doesn't want to be the backup.
Realistically Toronto and Florida, and outside shot at Edmonton. Jackets and Lightning traded for goalies already...do you really think they would trade for 2 goalies in the same year? Very doubtful.
Chicago potentially, but I really can't see a trade going down between them.
People are saying Philly, but zero chance he goes there as long as Bryz is still there. Do you not agree with that? |

I'm quite happy to wait for the right deal, it's not like our team just fired their GM and has fans in delusion that they are in great shape. - rune_74
Where are these delusional fans saying they are in great shape? I'm around Leaf fans here a lot and the only thing they say about being in good shape is being set up comfortably with cap space for the next few years and only a couple of long term contracts (JVR). Have a little bit of depth in the AHL and juniors but very little elite talent.
If your going to make a broad statement like that, at least back it up and don't go by the obvious troll accounts.. |

So Nonis said he won't move Jake or Morgan unless some young player was coming back so how about this:
Jake and Bozak for Luongo, Raymond(throw in), and Edler?
I believe Booner suggested this yesterday. Not sure Vancouver fans will like this as Gardiner isn't physical like Edler. |

Luongo will never be bought out. Aquillini has a way of making things just go away. |

Dude you just had a fan say that it was debatable if loungo was even better then bryz...As he sees it or whatever his name is lists off long reasons why we are in trouble. |

To bad the new CBA doesn't have a clause where you can buy out a couple of contracts. Wait, what...........? |

You are forgeting the value that Luongo or a Nash brings to the team he is traded to. That is how a price is established. What is a team willing to pay for Luongo servies? How desperate is the GM to shore up his goaltending position? Thoes will deterime what Luongo ends up getting traded for. Not Keslers health or the Sedins age. - fiveandagame
Its all about demand...
29 teams would take Rick Nash...there is maybe 3-4 teams that would take Luongo... |

Edler>Weber
- Boinker
Luongo + Raymond for Kessel, MacArthur + Frattin

Ferraro says it is Sean Couturier's coming back in a Lu trade
- VANTEL
My bet- Connolly, Reilly and a 2nd rd pick for Luongo and Raymond

Why are we still talking about either Gardiner or Rielly in any trade they are completely untouchable. Kadri isnt going anywhere, same with Colbourne and Biggs. The only prospects i can see going the other way are either Finn, Percy, Ashton, Blacker, D'Amigo. |

|

Well if you go by stats then yes, Loungo is better then Bryzzy...but we know you don't use those. - rune_74
... And how much have Luongo's stats been inflated by playing on the Canucks?
Do you think that an older Luongo could put up the same numbers on the Blue Jackets, Leafs, Islanders etc etc? |

Alright, has anyone taken a look at the Leafs depth chart on D?
We're are not in any position defensively to trade Gardiner or Rielly.
As well, anyone who thinks that Vancouver is going to come out with a good deal is absurd for a couple reasons.
1) Everyone and their dog knows that if Luongo is a Canuck by this coming off-season, the Canucks are going to buy him out.
2) His contract is big and long, and he's not exactly entering his prime. Vancouver is not in a favourable position, and every GM knows it. Besides, that, who remembers the Kovalchuk deal when he was entering his prime. Remind me again about what Atlanta got for one of the best scorers in the game?
Bozak + Franson + 2nd is the BEST that Vancouver will get. |

I believe he also threw in a first . At first I thought it sounded decent but then I thought about it. Giving up a piece of the core of a first place team for a piece of the future core of the 29 th place team does not make sense. If Edler is in the deal Flyers would be a much better partner. |

29 teams couldn't take Nash becasue of of his NTC. I would love for you to give me a detailed list of teams that would take Luongo. As far as I know, Gillis is the only one that has that info. |

Lets see a gold medal winner, Jennings trophy .multiple vezinas nominations , 2 presidents trophy and a Stanley cup finalist against a rookie that has problems in his own end and helped lead his team to 29 th spot .

Seriously? At this point in time the odds favour the canucks by a wide margin, unless your a blind follower of a GMless team...oh wait they took another of our castoffs as a gm right? |

I know you don't like his opinion, that's fine, I agree Luongo is a better goalie than Bryz, imo. |
