show me how Neon is better then Hamhuis, and Edler. The numbers don't suggest it. The Norris trophy voting the last couple yrs doesnt. Hell Juice is better then Phanuef.

If the Canucks could actually pick up Rielly TO would be pissed at Nonis but as soon as they made the playoffs all would be forgotten. (though I still don't think they would make the playoffs even with Luongo)

Those that were interested in the pool, check your PM's!

We have basically most of the regulars so it should be fun, if we can't get everyone in, I might add a couple of teams to make it an even 14.

There's a first . A Toronto fan that thinks their players are the best

Bahahahahahaahah.

The irony in your post is astounding. The attitude of Canucks fans is ridiculous. I've seen the phrase "the arrogance of those guys, for a team that has never won anything", or similar phrases, like "those guys think it's the best team in the world that has never won anything", is a pretty common description for people that wander into Canucks threads for the first time.

My god that is a bad deal.
- rune_74

How so?

Bozak can play 2C until Kessler gets back, he is an upgrade of Higgins if they move him to C. Kulemin is the exact player that Vancouver needs and can easily be a 30 goal scorer again. Franson would be in the top 6 easily.

they want/need to get rid of Luongo and Kassian well is kinda regressing.

My first reaction to Grossman ,once the rumour was leaked made sense. My intitial thought was Simmonds and L Schenn for Edler and Lu. Most readers shot it down.

Ferraro today said Sean Couturier .At first reaction you say WTF . Then I thought if it is a package trade like Edler and Lu then it opens the door for a lot of options.

It could be as simple as Lu for L Schenn or Grossman.

- VANTEL

I think any deal with Philly a Dman needs to go to Philly. No chance in hell Philly gives Couturier. Homer wouldn't give him for Shea Weber!

I think Sunday you hear a deal done and Gardiner will be a Canuck

You have Non Hockey personel making the decisions (Bell Media)

- VANTEL

Nonis was on hockey central via phone and he absolutely said Rielly and Gardiner WILL NOT BE TRADED unless an equally talented YOUNG player is coming back.
The End.

Facts:

- Gillis does not have to trade him now.
- Lou as a distraction is conjecture only and promoted by those who want to see him traded or have a vested interest in the media-hype.
- Lou can be traded at anytime up to the deadline

- Toronto has lost leverage with the firing of Burke.

- Gillis will need a backup for insurance as Lack is hurt. Reimer was in Vancouver a few weeks ago at the same time when TO media broke that a deal was done.

- Gillis wants young studs so you must include Kadri and either Reily or Gardner

- Bozak is not a strong consideration and will be used only if Vancouver does not take Komi (See below)

- To balance this Vancouver also gives Raymond

- To save Face, Toronto insists a draft pick and that we take Komi and his salary.

- To counter this, Vancouver agrees to take Komi for Ballard and gives a 3rd rounder.

Final deal is

To Toronto: Louongo, Raymond, Ballard and a 3rd pick.

To Vancouver: Reimer, Kardri, Komi, Either Reiley or Gardner.

OR:

To Toronto: Louongo and Raymond

To Vancouver: Reimer, Kadri, Bozak and Gardner

I know many Toronto fans will say this is overpayment but Bozak's contract makes his value nothing. Reimer and Kadri are locks and then there must be a this young stud so consider Louongo for Reimer and Kadri which is underpayment and Bozak and Garner for Raymond which is overpayment.

I think this wil be the deal unless they also trade Komi for Ballard

- Beatle_john

You have to be high or drunk off your ass when you wrote this...
Technically Gillis doesn't have to trade Lu...but when your tenured starter loses his job, and is forced to sit on the bench, its gonna be an awkward position, regardless of what Lu has said.
Why has Toronto lost leverage with the Burke firing? Toronto doesn't have to trade for Lu...especially now that Burke's job is not on the line anymore (like a lot of you Canucks fans have stated) and so Nonis will have a clean slate, and not be forced to do anything...
Reimer or Scrivens going in the deal is fine.
Gillis doesn't have the power to dictate that he get multiple young players in return provided there are only 3 possible suitors for Luongo. Plus Nonis has said that Gardiner or Rielly will NOT be part of a deal for any veteran player (Luongo). Kadri, yes...other two, no.
Toronto will not be taking back over $10mil in salary (Lu's $5.3, Ballards $4.2 and whatever Raymond is)
It will be more like:
Luongo & Raymond for Bozak, Kadri, Reimer, 2nd/3rd

It is so ironic that TO will not trade for what they NEEDED (A goalie and a #1 centre are the obvious needs) because they lost all those top picks for Kessel who was the player they WANTED but not needed. (There was clearly no infrastructure around him to use him.)

So... the ghost of the Kessel trade lives on and could make the Leafs miss the playoffs again.

- Beatle_john

And at this point, who cares if they do...another missed playoff means a top pick in a good draft, not taking on Lu gives them an additional $5.3mil in cap space for the next few years, and with Connolly and Lombardi's numbers coming off the books as well, Leafs are in a great cap position. I can see a trade for Lu if we had a great team with subpar goaltending, but Leafs are a poor team with subpar goaltending, and all adding Lu would do is get Leafs to the playoffs to lose 1st round, get a mid-1st pick, lose prospects for Lu, and lose cap space for next summer and beyond.

If it costs as much as Van fans say (Kadri, Reilly, 1st...), we could likely get a guy like Halak anyways, who is better, younger and on a cheaper contract....

Wok cares? Everybody that has anything to do with MLSE should care. The apathy of the fan base is the reason the management can sell you guys a polished turd and you eat it up without question

Leaf fans want a contender, not some BS borderline playoff team that always just sneaks into the 7th/8th seed (kinda like the Flames). Don't completely suck to get a good draft pick, but not good enough to make a good playoff run. I don't know if I speak for all Leaf fans, but I would rather no playoffs for another 2-3years if it means we have a legit contender (like the Canucks currently are) for like a decade.
Getting Luongo makes us that cusp team of not being good enough to contend, but not poopty enough to get a good pick.
