So there goes all the thoughts that he would not even make it to the West coast. This says to me:

1. Lou is not a prima donna and is a memeber of the team. He could have held out but lets realize he did used to be the cpatain for a reason.

2. Gillis is serious when he says the Canucks may not trade him.

Can you imagine how boring it will be on HB once Lu gets traded?

No Reilly or Gardiner, they are Toronto's future for Vancouver's past! Conolly (last year on contract and fills the 2nd line hole vancouver has), Reimer (2 years left on contract and could be used in an offseason trade if Lack manages to get there somehow), Colbourne (big centre prospect with hands who is struggling this year) and a 2nd.

I wouldn't be happy as a Leaf fan if we paid anymore then that!

What do you think could come back from Philly for Luongo?

I think Leaf fans are starting to panic becasue they truly believed they were getting Luongo for Komi and 3rd. Now that Burke is gone and Philly has joined the mix they might have to acctually pay to aquire Luongo or miss out on him all together and have to go into the season with the goaltending they currently have.

It is so ironic that TO will not trade for what they NEEDED (A goalie and a #1 centre are the obvious needs) because they lost all those top picks for Kessel who was the player they WANTED but not needed. (There was clearly no infrastructure around him to use him.)

So... the ghost of the Kessel trade lives on and could make the Leafs miss the playoffs again.

If they are in fact interested in Lou perhaps Pronger is traded back as a form of saving money from the Bry buy out. Can someone on LTIR be traded?

I don't even want to give up Bozak+Kadri for Luongo. Is he a good goalie? Sure. But he is going to be declining. Why would the Leafs give up Gardiner or Reilly? Other than Kessel, these 2 are the only potential stars on the team in the future. I can't wait for this Luongo nonsense to finish. Connoly+2nd+Franson/Percy. With a contract like that, I would think the Leafs would have leverage? Sure Gilis can just keep Luongo as the backup, but that wouldn't be smart spending that much on a backup?

I heard Luongo a couple of days ago say something along the lines of "Gillis can do whatever he needs to do" It sounded like the NTC was not that big of a deal.
