That's a pretty poor return. I have doubts that Jenner's game will translate well to the NHL...
- clarkysduster

Agreed. I've had arguments with people about that as well. I see him as a 3rd/4th liner at best.

Some of us around here think the same thing. Exchange Holzer/Blacker with Franson and I think that's the deal.

The Canucks need a center even with Kesler in the line up. Bozak can cover the 2nd line until Kesler returns and then move to the 3rd. Gillis stated that he wants the team to get "younger and bigger". Ashton and Franson are "younger and bigger".

This trade scenario has been kicked around for months now because at the end of the day it makes sense and is fair.

If you guys get franson (signed or not signed hes still a RFA) where he can be signed with you guys or us, does not make a difference, that 2nd round could be battled down to a 3rd. But who knows, i say that because franson is established more than holzer and blacker, and is half decent.

Really?? I see him as Dave Bolland / Brad Marchand type guy. 2nd/3rd line guy that drives people nuts and can score the odd goal. I think CBJ will love him.
- fiveandagame

He's too much of a power forward type to be compared to those two.

I think Ryan Callahan-ish minus the leadership skills, which may be there in time, but I doubt he has

It doesn't hurt that he's a leader in ohl scoring on a line with Biggs

This Lou to Philly stuff is pure B.S...

I don't doubt conversations have been made, but if these two teams are talking it has nothing to do with Lou and everything to do with Edler.

It has now become decisively clear that these rumors originated from the West coast, most likely from the hands of the Canucks organization in an attempt to raise Lou's value.

Notice how Holmgren* denied the Lou reports and yet never denied actually talking to the Nucks, then this Lou B.S started surfacing.

Where there's smoke there's fire, but again, it has zero to do with Lou.

He can't admit they are kicking tires . He already has a #1 .If the deal goes sideways Bryz would be pissed.

i still think the deal for luongo will be something like bozak, ashton, 2nd rounder, holzer/blacker(i think the nucks needed a stay home defensemen no?)

They need a D and a center.

Yeah not happening, i can see philly being interested in Jonathen Bernier which is a little less expensive and could share the duties

Gillis, is that you?

I have no doubt Edler could be part of the equation, but it's well known Phi is unhappy with their goaltending. A few media members have also confirmed the discussions between the two teams about Luongo.

As far as Holmgren's denial goes, what do you expect him to say? This is the same guy that told Jeff Carter to his face that he was part of Phi's future plans shortly before dealing him to CLB.

The talks about Lou between Van and Phi may have been minor, but there are several indications they happened, and you're in no place to deny them.

I wouldn't be surprised if Phi was interested in a package including both Lou and Edler.

We agree on something Fos

I think it would have to be a good return for the Canucks for it to happen though not just spare parts.

I just don't see Philadelphia in the cards.

They need to figure out how they're going to replace Pronger and Carle.

I would hate to see Franson moved. D'you know how hard it is to find a big right handed Dman who has a wicked shot?

I see him as a Colby Armstrong type. I just don't think his run-around style will work in the NHL. We've seen countless energy/physical guys who were beasts for Team Canada and became average 3/4th liners. I could be wrong. Just my opinion.

Next week will be more exciting than TDL or July 1 st. GMs have one week to shore up their team. Many teams have many holes. They don't have the whole summer like they have had in past years.

Contracts UFAs to be signed .Sit back and grab the popcorn.

Gilman already hinting at putting a player on LTIR for long term deals. "A player may not be able to just walk away."

A team on the last 4 years of a long term deal may be able to trade the rest of the contract to Team trying to reach the cap floor . Pick up the remainder of the contract for a 5 th rounder.

You are on drugs. Why do Canucks trade a top end goalie for a piece of dung. Why do the Canucks want to help Tor?

Gillis has said many times he will only trade if it helps the team . Why would we break up a solid goalie tandem for a RW who scores 13 goals @4.5 mil per. Raymond is cheaper faster and better looking.

Bad bad bad.

Burke was loud and embarrassing .

Please, the consequences of Philly acquiring Lou are simply outrageous.

1. Philly already has $57.5M committed to 16 players next season with the cap dropping to $64.3M.

2.Philly has $6.8M to sign 7 players next season

3. They will then need to sign Giroux, B. Schenn and Couturier.

4. Paul Holmgren just signed Bryz to a ridiculous contract just last year, Bryz has only played ONE season with the Flyers. Is Paul willing to humiliate himself as well as cost his owners a boat load of money in buying him out after ONE season with the team? Furthermore what would this buyout signal to future UFA's in relation to signing in Philly? Trade him? TO WHO? US? NO!

You are correct in the assumption that i know little more then you in terms of trade discussions, however i would favor rational thought and discussion over extremely far fetched proposals. In all honesty Philly is probably the last team in the league that would acquire Lou's services.

You can take Prongers salary off there (5mil).Take of Bryz replace Lu savings of 300K.Trade name floating around was Grossman 3.5 m .They are fine.

I'm not saying its impossible but we have to consider the logistics, and in this case its a little severe.

So essentially Philly is going to use both or their only buyouts on Pronger and Bryz just to acquire Lou, how much money would that be? Didn't they just acquire Grossman last trade deadline?

As opposed to Vancouver, Philly is essentially rebuilding their team on the run, why all the sacrifice for a older goalie? If anything i think they would be much more interested in Cory.
