He is not contractually obligated to return to North American right now, for all we know, he could've asked Lou to play in the All-Star game or will ask him. If anything, he misses the first day or two of training camp, but it's not like he will need it.

Did you see other Russians, like Ovechkin, Datsyuk, Malkin say they would LIKE to stay in Russia? No you don't. They say their frustrations in a different way, not just totally ditching NJ.

He could've just simply said "I don't like what the lockout brought to the NHL, I had a fantastic time here in the KHL, which is a great league, but I have a contract in the NHL that I must honor.
