JvR's one hell of a center

He didn't play much center in Philly. Don't forget that.

Wow are you ever wrong Ek.

*Burke tried to fast track it, COMPLETELY mis-read his team in the process and set things back for years; not exactly exhibiting patience is it??

* Comparing Chicago/Tallon with Toronto/Burke is as asinine as it gets. The Leafs are no where close to contending and won't be anytime soon.

*How exactly has the Kaberle trade paid off in a big way?? The Leafs will be lucky if Colborne pans out and Chiarelli knew it. maybe the 1st rounder works out, maybe.

*A playoff team for a good 7-10 years, more like in 7-10 years........maybe

Over the last three season Jonathan Toews has scored 85 goals in 215 games playing with Kane, Hossa, Keith...

Over the last three seasons Kessel has scored 99 goals in 234 game for the Leafs playing with Lupul and ?????

- Eklund

I'm sure you're long gone by now Ek, but no Leaf fans doubt Kessel's talent. It's not about that; it's about giving up the first rounders with nothing else here to compliment Kessel.

You add that kind of talent at that price when you're a piece or two away from contending, not when you're in the bottom 1/3 of the league at best.

Del Zotto to Edmonton? Oilers would have to give up some pretty good prospects for that to happen.

Look at the Islanders when they won 4 cups. Would Mike Bossy have been Mike Bossy with Brian Trottier? Yes Bossy was a beautiful hockey player but mabie without Trottier he might have been a career 30 goal scorer. But with Trottier, Bossy became a complete force. So I see Kessel in that manner. He need the right center to vault his career to the next level. He can be the Jari Kurri or Mike Bossy version for the Leafs, we just need him to be with right center.
- GCHonda

I feel thats where it all comes together. You need a number one center to be an elite team in this league.

So true.....look at the Leafs since Sundin left. I mean they weren't great his last couple of years, but they at least contended for the playoffs w/ pretty crap goaltending.

Now, no elite centre with crap goaltending and this is where they are......

Thats a tad overpayment don't you think? Besides. Hall, RNH, Ebs, Yaks, and J. Schultz are untouchable anyways.

Plus, Ebs and Hall are inseparable.

If I was the Oilers I would be shopping Yaks big time right now for a young D man

I agree with you whole heartily. The problem is Upper Management. Tambellini wanted to draft a Ryan Murray with the 1st but Katz/Lowe made an executive decision and went with Yaks. So unfortunately, it is unlikely that Yaks is being shopped.

Ok let's evaluate that trade for once second!
Flyers receive a solid goalie, yes. They receive a player who is virtually USELESS to us in Raymond, and ok we receive Ballard, a #4 dman, who also has a high cap hit, and whom is most likely going to be bought out at the end of this year!

Vancouver receives a future Selke Nominee, who is a top prospect in the game, one of THE BEST playoff performers of the past DECADE, and also a 2nd line centre in Danny, and a 1st round pick in a very deep draft!

Scooby Doo takes a huge shame to th cartoon. Scooby is the best cartoon ever made IMO, he brings a shame to it. Horrible horrible troll he is!

- FLYERSROCK!

okay obviously scooby doo's proposals are stupid, but you calling coutourier one of the best playoff performers of the past decade is laughable when he's only been in the playoffs once and talled 4 points. reminds me more of sammy pahlson when the ducks won the cup. not much offense but amazing defense...wouldnt call it the best performance of the past decade though.

I probably would have taken Yaks in the draft as well. He was the consensus number 1 and best player. Do you think most Oilers fans would have been mad if they wouldn't have taken Yakupov? I would take Hall, Eberle and RNH over Yaks. If they could swap him for a stud young d-man you guys would be set.

If they didn't sign Schultz I may be swayed.

Yak isn't going anywhere anytime soon. You take the best player with the best pick.

I'm just excited to see him join the fold.
