and those 1's equated to Hamilton and Seguin and Knight...so knowing how everything has unfolded would you take the trade back? |

Don't get me wrong I like Kessel and I enjoyed watching him play in Boston. I thought he had great speed and a quick release, but looking at what came of those draft picks you can't help but be thrilled if you're a fan of the Bruins. |

It was indeed the trade. Don't deny it. |

...but he did.
He promised a trucculent team, he promised a team who is hard to play against and he promised a contender.....he did not deliver. - Barx
in 5 years!
Lawton said it today.. it takes longer than 5 years.
3.5 years is not 5 years.
If the Leafs make the playoffs this year or next and get through a round... will your position change? |

Exactly, this trade was ridiculous...granted the leafs weren't expecting it to be a top 2 pick, but it was... |

Obviously not.. I said I wouldn't have done the deal if I knew it was a 2nd and 9th overall... but nobody predicted that.
You can't say the trade was for Seguin and Hamilton... cause you have no idea who the Leafs would have picked in that position or if they would have been in that position if they didn't make the Kessel trade in the first place. |

that's just it. i like the leafs. to the point where not only myself, but my wife as well, own leaf gear (for what that's worth). if not against the B's i always root for the leafs and it will be absolutely fantastic for the sport and the league when the leafs get rolling again. |

the only reason why Burke didnt get fired earlier like most GMs would have with those moves he made was because he was still fresh off a stanley cup win, in other words still fresh proof that his system works....also because he's someone who can deal with the pressure of Toronto without giving into fans
otherwise Ek, you're fooling yourself into thinkin he did any sort of good job
truculence
mind you his system could have worked, unfortunately for him free agents just do not want to go to Toronto |

Yeah that trade worked out as best it possibly for you guys considering he was anRFA where they both parties didnt' want to deal with eachother anymore and you won the cup.
Same with the Kaberle trade... you guys got smoked on that one (I think it was in good faith after how the Kessel deal turned out - which was shocking) however you won the cup with Kaberle who was your lineup for 2 months (for two 1st rounders).. so it was worth it for you guys. |

I guarantee it was the other way around. Philly would have to be incredibly stupid to turn down Weber for Cutourier when they have B. Schenn as well. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. - Boinker
The Flyers WOULD have traded Couturier for Weber. However according to the media in Philly and Nashville at the time, Nashville wanted Couturier and Brayden Schenn and Braydon Coburn and a couple of 1st round picks as well.
The point Flyers fans are trying to make is that Couturier is viewed in Philly as a future Selke candidate who will also anchor the 2nd line, and put up 30 goals and 70+ points. Unless the deal is bringing the Flyers a legitimate number one defenseman, Couts is not going anywhere. |

Do you know the Leafs would have came in 2nd last without Kessel in the lineup that season? No you don't.
They could have came in dead last... or could have won the cup.... you don't know. |
