No.. 30 teams through he wasn't worth picking up 6.5 million for 3-4 years.

None of those 30 teams were starting out their season with 3 NHL D-men ready to go.

Wade Redden is old and slow....we already had Witt, and if another team with space REALLY thought he could help, he wouldn't still be in Hartford. I'd take him on this team, but ONLY if he comes with a first round pick.....and I'd sit him in the seats if I thought I could do better than him on the ice, and think nothing of it. The problem is that I just don't think Wang would go for paying that kind of dough to have someone watch the games.

here is my two cents as prospects go

prospects i feel have a future with this team:

strome future second line center and 1st team PP with tavares
nino future 1-2 line winger.. has to be physical though
reinhart at worst we have a shutdown defender with some offensive skill. at best we have a 1-2 defender.
nelson - will either slot in the wing on top 6 or 3rd line center when frans goes. Brock is very underrated, and in college he played on wing. i could see him doing the same if given the chance, but he's playing center in the AHL
donovan- the games i saw him in last year in the NHL offensively he looked good. his breakout and defense to offense transition looked great. however his defense needs time, but hes close to the NHL
mayfield if he doesn't take the college loophole he will be a 5/6 defender as a shutdown guy, i personally love his defense. Big, mean, physical, but safe sound defense.
pelech i really like this guy. decent size (6'2 210) offensive skill and defensively good. 3-4 guy down the road i think

then things get tricky... they are wildcards to me

pokka apparently he's doing great oversees in a men's league. problem is he fits the donovan, de haan build. However, defensively from the small amount of tape ive seen he is better than them defensively
pedan loose cannon. mean and loves to hit, but can play good defense, appears to have offensive skill. but he is massively bigger and stronger than the chl competition so he needs to be able to adapt. can be anywhere from 2 guy to 7th. more likely a 3-5 guy
kabanov he oozes skill, but so many questions. this guy can be a first line winger all the way down to fleeing to europe
lee if he stays he will be a monster on the checking line who could score 20 goals a season. has potential for second line but not getting hopes up. but i dont think he is dedicated to the isles.
ulstrom he i like his effort and playing style. could transform to a nice 3rd or 4th liner.. more likely 4th
cizikas see ulstrom
sundstrom defensively good, physical, and can play offense, 3rd or 4th line better more potential than ulstrom to me
persson i feel that him and sundstrom are the same player.. see sundstrom
kitchton CHL overager..questionmarks for him but he could be another Amac

goalies i feel could go either way.. at times they look promising but their slow starts to the season has scared me.
so the problem is we are starting to get clogged with people who will be having the same roles. Look for one of bailey okposo or grabner to get traded sometime within the next season along with a pick and a few prospects to bring in an actual top 3 defender or top 6 winger.

I agree on most of this (at least the guys I've seen, anyway), but I think Ullstrom can play a little bit. He has that thing (two things, to be precise ) that a lot of our players haven't had for the last...well, forever- he goes TO the net, and TO the rear boards without wussing out, and he's got some skill in close. I see him as a solid 3rd liner, if he develops defensively.

Meanwhile thats 16 prospects...........and that doesnt even include Petrov or some of the d Garth just drafted. Thats basically a full roster of players. Time to start making moves Mr Snow. Cant keep em all......

Well according to some on here, Wade can still play. Forget about the fact that he had to clear through waivers and no team grabbed him........he's still got something left in the tank (shakin my head).

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of the forwards we had back when Dinglebury was the GM....just not willing to pay the price, other than Steve Webb, who wasn't any good. I can imagine all those leftovers watching Ryan Smyth at the time, and thinking....God, that's too much like work. The young guys are good- I think we're solid up front....but a lot of our defensive prospects are just TOO small, IMO. That needs to be addressed, and we don't need all of the first/second line forwards we have in the system, when we desperately need more defensive depth.

The one thing I'm thinking within the next couple of seasons (especially if Bailey and Okposo FINALLY have their sh*t together, which I started to see signs of at the end of last year) is that Snow should seriously consider moving Moulson. He's got solid value, and he's likely going to be in someone's way, at some point.

Snow should go after Redden. The Rangers have to move him and the Isles could bring a pick over with him as compensation for absorbing cap space.

i wouldn't touch redden with a ten foot poll..he is just collecting a pay check..he has a massive substance abuse problem along with battling depression

....and my argument (and yours too, I'd imagine) is that if he could still play, he'd have been playing somewhere. There ARE teams that could use some defense (in fact, BOTH of the defensive embarrassments that play their home games in Pennsylvania come to mind) who wouldn't hesitate to pick up that contract if they thought the guy could still perform at an NHL level....he's just done. We drafted him a LONG time ago. He's old and stuff.....

PS- speaking of which...being as I often work down in that area, I get to read a lot in the Philly papers. It looks like they're all ready to once again blame the fact that their defense is cr*p on the goaltender....and the season hasn't even started yet...

alot of guys wasting away:

kabanov, reinhart, mayfield, brock nelson, petrov (?), lee, theoret, sundstrom, pedan

sundstrom is a guy to keep an eye on..he has been a pleasant suprise

Reinhart won't be ready for at least 2-3 years. Petrov and Brock are on the bubble but really, they'll be nothing more than third and fourth line guys. Kabanov is a loose cannon and he'll never come to the NHL. The rest, bye bye.
- Mr.Black

i like how casually you consider Nelson a fourth line player...the kid can flat out play...kabanov is ALREADY HERE...and has been nothing but a model citizen..i watched some of the bport game with his family the other night he is itching to get back...boy you really have your finger on the pulse of this team.

I believe lee can't use the college loophole b/c the new CBA addresses that. So isles will still have first rights to retain him. I'm not sure on it. Can anyone verify.

Also did anyone read the article on boyes. All of us are slotting him on top line but I think maybe isles let pa walk to allow ko to top line. Bailey could even try it out. He is one of best passers on the team. Though he did play lw thought last right.

As for ullstrom. That guy has skill. And I agree, sundstrom could be very pleasant surprise. Then we can than Montreal for that pick when we sent them wiznewski.

something to know about Wade Redden. He was overrated from his days in Ottawa. It very easy to be 5 skater on Ice on a PP, that had Alfredson, Heatley, Hossa, Spezza, and Chris philips to back him up Defensively. So redden barely had to do anything except sit at point and wait for puck to fire it on net. He wasnt good then either.

I would rather have any dman in NHL than an overrated overpaid DMAN. its like going out and signing rick dipietro now.

- Spartiarti

Ummm, Heatley was traded to the Senators for Hossa so they were NEVER on the Senators power play together.
