(frank) man, theres like 4 guys with any serious NHL experience....

You cant count guys like Ranger with AHL contracts who wont be in the NHL.

Yeah, theres lots of Dmen in the system... you think 10-11 are NHL ready, well good on you. I disagree.

If you must, fine, they are very deep and very weak.

- robin_steele264

guys like ranger (1 guy), can be counted. they are a fax machine away from playing in the nhl.

there are 8 with nhl experience (around 100 career games and up).. and another 2-3 who could fill in if need be. it's called depth.

there are probably 10-15 nhl clubs with weaker bluelines than the leafs, and have poorer depth. are they winning cups with that blueline? no. but it doesn't make them thin.. under any circumstances.

weak is a different debate.

Also forgot I think JVR has mad potential

JVR is meh at best. Luke 'The Human Eraser' will be a shutdown star on Phillys backend for years to come.

lol, when

I love this argument about can the Oilers keep this team together...maybe they can, but you are never gonna win a cup with that roster.

- flashfire

as a neutral fan... i'd much rather bet for them, than against.

that's nothing but speculation, and it's of the jealous rival fan variety.

JVR gets hurt a lot. Luke Schenn hurts guys a lot.

So you think RNH, Yak and Schultz will make 7.75 mill in 2 years?

BTW the Oilers have 43 mill in space 2 years from now.

Your numbers mean nothing, and until this becomes a 'problem'.... its not a problem.

Is this another one of these idiots saying " they will never be able to keep em all, they will cost too much".

agreed.

to much risk with JVR. schenn hits a unit where he has an offense, and support.. he'll hit beast mode quickly.

burke should have found a way to include couturier in the schenn trade just to validate the risk scenario.

Maybe, seems iffy.

They certainly need him.

- robin_steele264

I have no reason to believe that he won't get signed. There are plenty of RFAs who have yet to be signed, they rarely miss time because of it.

I hope when the Oilers win the cup, they don't hire fricken' Def Leppard to play the victory party.

Wait, you think Hall, Eberle, Nuge, Yakupov, Schultz and Klefbom aren't as good hockey players as Rick Nash is?

Eberle is what, 17 years old, and he already has a season with as many points as Nash's career high. Eberle isn't as good as Nash, he's better than Nash.

- Maxbone

3 of them have never played in the league and you're saying they're as good as Nash? Quality analysis right there.

understandably..

one of the few teams that may be poorer run than the leafs, and as such.. validate being a fan.

They most certainly are not worse than the Leafs. And they will win a cup before Toronto does. Maybe not before Edmonton, but certainly before than the Leafs. We have some good prospects, lots of future cap space, and an easier town to win in.

calgary is horrible. aside from baertschi there's not much happening in the future.

haven't they had the same team since the last lockout? aside from cammalari coming and going a few times?

the contracts they signed last summer we're horrible. panic moves to avoid a rebuild that should have happened 7 years ago. soon enough kipper and iginla will be to old to turn into anything that could've helped the franchise.

the flames make me feel better as a leaf fan.

This argument can be made for literally any team in the NHL.

No but I understand how you can get no-names mixed up. They traded down and skipped over such players as Ceci and Teravainen to draft Mark "the janitor" Jankowski, straight out of the Ontario High School league, I think he may of actually attended Degrassi High. Cervenka is some dud from the KHL, but he did win a golden helmet award in the KHL's 11-12 all star game.

No it is not, you are thinking Jankowski who has a shot in 3 yrs. Cervenka is early 20s, C, and a decent Euro 1-yr gamble. Since we spend to the cap or close to it, an advantage over the aforementioned 'every team can say they have good prospects and cap space to come' comment. And it is a good town to play in. And don't have Dion missing the net for 6m/yr.

And John Gaudreau should be a pretty good one

Yes, I think the Flames, as of now, are better run than the Leafs, since no Sutter is making the big decisions.

i'm thinking their both plugs, and another reason the organization is a farce.

wideman at 5.5 mil a year, and hudler over 4 says no.. even without sutter, the flames are not better.. or better run than the leafs.

the flames are in the same column of hilarity as the columbus blue jackets.. the leafs are about 2 spots above.
