What do Flames fans care if he goes to Edmonton? You're not scared, are you? |

nice shot at the Flames...by the way the Oilers didn't allow the team to suck like it was some master plan...they are just incompetent. They have one style of player and that doesn't win in this league. |

We cannot express how grateful we, the people east of Winnipeg, are. Your blogs introduce us to a world we never knew existed. Up until reading your blogs, names like Hall, Eberle, RNH, Yakupov and Schultz were unknown to us. We have nothing but the utmost respect for you, RC. Keep doing your thing, and educating those of us who obviously do not have access to the same quality/quantity of information that you do.
Sincerely,
East of Winnipeg - laughs2907
Thankfully you are not mad or bitter...

nope. He just has too much of an inflated head to do it.
Though, I wouldn't mind seeing him miss the net from the blue line by 10 feet every time, or standing by Dubnyk's post once a game looking up at the jumbotron after a goal is scored.
You should try to trade for him |

Canucks will get a lot more for Luongo now since Burke promised ownership he'd be a leaf after the cba was concluded and now Burke is gone. Why you ask?
Well the new owners want Bobby Luo and Burke didn't want to pay the price the Canucks were asking. Now there's pressure on nonis to get Luo and gillis knows it.the cba wasn't as harsh as Burke thought it would be on the Canucks in terms of cap hit or penalty for the front loaded deal. Burke thought he'd get Luo for a song but the Canucks can actually hold onto him with the 70 mill cap and await better offers from desperate GMs. This will force nonis to do what Burke wouldn't.the pressure is all on nonis.
Canucks will get bozak, Gardiner (or some other half decent dman which rules out phaneuf), and a solid prospect. - kaptaan
What are they putting the magic mushrooms out west these days. "Canucks will get more for Luongo now".
Let me get this straight... just so I understand. The GM of a hockey team in TOronto gets fired, therefore the market value of a player on a team in Vancouver increases?
I guess I'm slow... since there is such a huge long list of teams who would want Luongo why would one GM losing his job change the value? Or is it your belief it changes the value because that GM who lost is job is the only really interested party in acquiring said player? It can't be both - it has to be one or the other.
Now you may believe the Luongo has huge trade value - and without that contract he just might. But the hard cold (sorry cool for you west coasters) fact is that he has a ridiculous contract that is going to mess up the Canucks already messy CAP situation by July 2nd... which will probably be about 6 weeks after the Canucks are eliminated from the playoffs if they don't their locker room and goaltending situation sorted out.
I'm not sure those things make Bobby Luo particularly valuable on the marketplace.. and none of those have changed because Burke was fired.
Or perhaps - just perhaps - the Canuck fans don't realize that Gillis will be right behind Burke if he doesn't clean up his situation - which could only mean one thing... he's not dealing from a position of strength.
Before you now trolled Canuckeheads blow a gasket ... please re-read the above and make sure you understand... Burke losing his job doesn't make Luongo worth a 2nd rounder... he remains a 3rd or 4th rounder plus a CAP dump.

Yak - Gagner - Hemsky
Smyth - Horcoff - Hartikainen
Eager - Belanger - Jones
Petrell & Hordi
Smid - Petry
J.Schultz - N.Schultz

I have to admit that lineup looks like it could work.... - RichardHertz

im thinking most gm's would be like most fans to.. in the sense that they'd rather see vancouver stuck with luongo and their cap situation implode, well before they'd rather have luongo on their team.
hating the canucks is the only rational standard in hockey these days. |

but they're alot further ahead than most franchises. as soon as they find that balance, they could be one of the most dominating teams ever assembled. |

28th overall pick would be great. - robin_steele264
and you would probably win 2 lottery picks and get Seth and Drouhin you lucky bastards
edit, you meant 3 rd overall |

I see your new year's resolution was to continue totally ridiculous trade ideas that benefit Edmonton only and throw subpar talent with little value going the other way. 90% of the names you mention don't capture more than a fourth round pick at best. |

I wouldn't mind acquiring any of the guys you just mentioned, but I very strongly disagree that the Oil need a guy to replace Shawn Horcoff. - SteveTambellini
I also agree that Horcoff is not that huge of a concern. He has trade value with teams needing to make the floor. Plus he is one of the best face off men in the league and that is something that RNH and Hall if he makes the move to Center will need help with.
Toronto is stronger on d than on forward and could part with a dman to make room for their prospects coming up. To be realistic, neither team is a cup contender this year but both teams could benefit from a trade.
Edmonton has a surplus of forwards in the system. Maybe not NHL ready but freeing space does allow flexibility in the off season as well. Players like Pajarvii or Omark who Edmonton are not playing but could turn out to be solid players, might be the type of assets TO would look at for one of their dmen they are not certain about.
Regardless the two teams need to do something and they have opposite strengths so a trade would make sense despite what fans think. I don't however think they will fix our goalie situation.
I think they should rent Dan Ellis for this season while Habby is a maybe unless someone knows anyone better out there and try to get someone like Backstrom in the offseason. I like Dubnyk but if you can't get dmen, get two good goalies to compete against each other. |
