Canucks will get a lot more for Luongo now since Burke promised ownership he'd be a leaf after the cba was concluded and now Burke is gone. Why you ask?

Well the new owners want Bobby Luo and Burke didn't want to pay the price the Canucks were asking. Now there's pressure on nonis to get Luo and gillis knows it.the cba wasn't as harsh as Burke thought it would be on the Canucks in terms of cap hit or penalty for the front loaded deal. Burke thought he'd get Luo for a song but the Canucks can actually hold onto him with the 70 mill cap and await better offers from desperate GMs. This will force nonis to do what Burke wouldn't.the pressure is all on nonis.

Canucks will get bozak, Gardiner (or some other half decent dman which rules out phaneuf), and a solid prospect.

The oilers have 5 or 6 Nash level players? Bahahahahahahahahhah ..... I mean Tyson Nash maybe...
- cmpdave

Nash is a different kind of player than any of our "super kids". As good as Nash is he is slightly overrated IMO. But guys with skill, size, and the will to use both are rare.

RNH is as good as NASH for overall star power.
As is Hall.
As is Eberle.
Shultz could end up being that good as could Yak.

Funny tho, Oilers really could use a Nash type on thier team for the Bull in a china shop factor they are missing.

Oh and Nash's contract is ugly.

You've done such a good job of trolling that you actually almost angered someone who doesn't care at all about the Leafs. I would like to congratulate you.
- SteveTambellini

Thanks pal. In a second the leafs would do that trade. First overall pick havent saw onw since sundin a better captain and sam gagner would be there best center

You really are in your own world. They can fire and hire as many GM's as they want, no competent person would make that deal. You think that the Canucks are gonna be getting good offers from desperate GM's? Are you joking? Who has actually shown a legitimate interest in acquiring Luongo other than the Leafs and Panthers? Nobody.

I'm sort of uncertain about all the praise Klefbom gets around here - don't get me wrong, I liked the Penner deal and I liked the choice of Klefbom in the draft, but saying he's as good or better than Nash (who is about as good as you get without anyone ever thinking you're the best) seems... premature.

Believe me, I hope he's Orr plus Coffey raised to the power of Lidstrom. Today he is a prospect. By all accounts, he's a great prospect, but prospects often fail to pan out. He just lost most of a season to injury, which should be a cause for concern. I'm not saying "don't get excited about having a good prospect", I'm just saying let's not raise expectations that high until we've seen several games from him in the NHL.

I DID throw up in my mouth a bit. I don't like him. At all. Ever. And I'd never get used to it.
- oilprincess

Ah the bitter taste of throw up, makes you remember the good old days when you would go out and get drunk, puke, pass out and wake up with that horrible taste in your mouth. Fond memories eh!

Hey, Kessel's the greatest 40 goal scorer to never score 40, and the Oilers are the greatest dynasty team to never make the playoffs

From a Leaf's perspective. Gardiner is a stud. Luongo is good but getting older and his contract is awful. I don't think the Leafs trading for Luongo is that bad of an idea if they can get the right price, but asking for Gardiner would be a deal breaker for me.
- SteveTambellini

Thanks for clearing that up. I can't even tell who's trolling around here anymore. Nothing personal.

Give your head a shake you clown. Clearly know nothing about the leafs suggesting their top 6 is the biggest hole. The Leafs score goals.

Defense and goaltending are far and away the biggest holes.

Tyler Seguin = Potential a Top 5 center in the NHL

Phil Kessel = A Top 30 goal scorer who has girl arms

Saying three Kessels are worth more than a Seguin is like saying Martin Gelinas, Jimmy Carson, three bad 1st round picks and $15mil are worth more than Gretzky.

- Maxbone

Hahaha top 30.. Youre such a joke

Finished 6th in scoring last year playing with Tyler Bozak, Tim Connolly and David Steckel centering at times.

- LEAFSfan28191

Solid rebuttal bud. I understand it's not that simple and the Gretzky thing was just a joke. But Kessel did put up some of the leagues best offensive stats on a pretty poopty line and is undoubtedly an all-star caliber player.

Wait, you think Hall, Eberle, Nuge, Yakupov, Schultz and Klefbom aren't as good hockey players as Rick Nash is?

Eberle is what, 17 years old, and he already has a season with as many points as Nash's career high. Eberle isn't as good as Nash, he's better than Nash.

- Maxbone

Hahahah it gets better and better. I wonder if you played hockey as a kid if you would be a better blogger but I guess they don't make hockey equipment in XXXXL

I have no idea what the Leafs are going to do. Are they going to crashand burn and try and get a 1st overall pick? Will they try and get Luongo and make a playoff run? I am totally lost on what is being planned.

You wouldnt get Gardiner by himself for Lou. We dont even know if ownership wants Lou or if it was Burke. None the less Vancouver needs to move Lou more than any team needs to trade for him.

Teams dont need to tank for 1st overall picks anymore. So might as well just try and be a decent team.

Seguin is a winger. I compare him more closely to Eberle than Hopkins.

Seguin is a goal scorer and Hopkins is a playmaker with a significantly higher upside IMO.

When and if RNH gets his faceoff numbers up and developes his "Datzyukian" style of play I do not think anyone will say Seguin is better.

Of course playing devils advocate there is nothing saying Seguin won't go back to center and develope just as well.

Too early to tell but RNH seems to have limitless potential where as Seguin seems to be a fairly one dimensional goal scorer primarily.

- Aerchon

I love RNH, he is going to be a stud in this league for years to come. I get to watch Seguin on a regular basis and he is much more than a one dimensional scorer. He has been playing with Bergeron and Marchand since he came into the league. He is embracing a defensive style as well. He is not fully there yet, but is learning how to play responsible two way hockey. As for just being a goal scorer, I don't agree with that statement. When Horton went down this past season, Seguin was moved up to the 1st line with Lucic and Krejci and raised Lucic's goal total. He is an excellent passer and uses his speed to open up space for his linemates. I don't think it is fair to compare these players so early in their careers.

I hate the trade for Kessel, but I like the player.

Kessel has big speed, great moves, goes hard to the net and a very adequate shot. Put him on a line with a top line center and he is aerious threat to score 50 goals most years.

I don't post often but this comment and your one before are pathetic. I thought you were being sarcastic but my god. Rielly Gardnier and two first round picks that more than likely will be top 10 picks. For yakupov Horcoff and that other guy who is comparable to Tyler Bozak? Idiots like you make me worried for this world and what it's going to become[/img]
