Wait, you think Hall, Eberle, Nuge, Yakupov, Schultz and Klefbom aren't as good hockey players as Rick Nash is?

Eberle is what, 17 years old, and he already has a season with as many points as Nash's career high. Eberle isn't as good as Nash, he's better than Nash.

- Maxbone

And Nash played with what supporting cast? the dude has been a one man army for his entire career...

The issue in Toronto certainly is in goal. As much as people like to harp on the Leafs lack of top 6 forwards (in truth, top 3 is the issue, they have plenty of 2nd liners) they score at a reasonable pace. The problem has been the number of goals allowed and, in particular, goals allowed at the worst possible times. Having said all that, if the price for Luongo is now Kadri and Gardiner as has been reported, no thanks.
- Jeffmt

That can't be true. I wouldn't even consider Gardiner for Luongo straight across.

I have no interest in any of Toronto's players. Especialy not at the price that they will most definatly ask for.

IMO:

Edmonton should not be thinking to deal anyone unless it's for a true #2 center with size. Or at least some stronger center prospects.

Phil Kessel = 6th highest for points in the league, 7th for goals. He also has Bozak as a centre and no good puck moving defensemen. To say he isn't a superstar player is just stupid. 3 Kessels would give you a total of 246 points in a season, which is more than any player has every received in a season so not taking 3 Kessels is like not taking Gretzky.

You need some sort of defense first.

Lots of rumors out there that Burke didn't want Luongo and ownership insisted.
- Maxbone

That's the only thing that could explain this timing. Ownership is going to be hearing it from Bettman about making a huge announcement on the day the league officially announce the season is a go. The only reason you would announce a move like this today is because you couldn't keep Burke around for one more day. Things obviously came to a head late yesterday.

ebs is the only one that's already earned praise enough to be considered in nash's class. and that includes both hall and the nuge.
and klefbom, schultz and yakupov haven even played a game in the nhl yet.

ill be stoked, but you're gonna be insufferable for opposing fans if our kids actually ever do reach the hype

Why is that so off? Sequin had slightly better junior stats, already has a 29 goal NHL season and is probably more durable than RNH.

I would take either as they are pretty close in almost all areas.

- scoot174

Seguin is a winger. I compare him more closely to Eberle than Hopkins.

Seguin is a goal scorer and Hopkins is a playmaker with a significantly higher upside IMO.

When and if RNH gets his faceoff numbers up and developes his "Datzyukian" style of play I do not think anyone will say Seguin is better.

Of course playing devils advocate there is nothing saying Seguin won't go back to center and develope just as well.

Too early to tell but RNH seems to have limitless potential where as Seguin seems to be a fairly one dimensional goal scorer primarily.

Pfffft! MG is living in a dreamworld if he thinks he gets Gardiner at all, let alone Gardiner+! It's a shortened season anyway and Dave Nonnis might not get fired if the team doesn't make the Playoffs so isn't under as much pressure to pay. At the start of next season Vancouver will pretty much have to deal one of their goalies to get under the salary cap - then Toronto can give them a lowball offer and let Vancouver choose between losing the trade and shedding serious salary elsewhere.

From a Leaf's perspective. Gardiner is a stud. Luongo is good but getting older and his contract is awful. I don't think the Leafs trading for Luongo is that bad of an idea if they can get the right price, but asking for Gardiner would be a deal breaker for me.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? The leafs would NEVER trade their captain, motivator, physical presence and 12 goal scorer for a couple of prospects (not RNH or Yakupov) and a 2nd rounder.....no way that would ever happen....rebuild or not, I doubt the leafs would give up any of those 3 players for what you suggested. Not even Cody Franson

You've done such a good job of trolling that you actually almost angered someone who doesn't care at all about the Leafs. I would like to congratulate you.
