he does? that's nice of him. i hope he brought his mittens.

i'm just agreeing with what an expert, ray ferraro, said about yakupov. he's not ready for the nhl if he can't dominate at the world juniors like RNH did. yakupov wasn't even one of the top 5 russian players. he might be good or great one day but not yet and not next year either. he's not a top 6 forward like everyone seems to automatically think. he's a kid.

- therealagent

Ummmm he was the top russian scorer in the tournament. What tournament were you watching? RNH also played a year in the NHL before going to the Juniors, comparing his performance to yaks and then using that basis to decide his future is like comparing sleeping with a virgin to sleeping with Jenna Jamison. He was the number one overall pick for a reason. Kinda early to say he will be a dud before he even plays. Not sure I would consider ray ferraro an expert either. He knows his poop, but an expert, come on.

Naw, he's from Halifax I think...

Awe, you care about me

Yeah, I'm alive for another little while at least... The storm is supposed to hit Thursday evening though, so I may be a goner after that time.

There is supposed to a be a pretty big one that just hit calgary and is moving south here. I just went outside and it looked like it rained here. (frank)ing Lethbridge, shorts weather and rain today, freezing and snow less than 24 hours later

I never actually got to the trade offer in Cloutiers article, I just assume it was something moronic like this.

Sam Gagner for Morgan Reilly and Jake Gardiner.

Outside of Garth's overblown man love for Grigo, no other blogger on this site over values players like Clouts does with Gagner.

I love comments like these. Allow me to rewrite it for clarity purposes...

"I don't read your blogs, but I'm a fan of a team not named the Oilers. Therefore, I'm going to pick a viable target, like Gagner, to focus on...without possessing any knowledge of what Cloutier's actual opinion is, I'll bash him and suggest he's as stupid as possible, as a way of getting laughs and improving my self-image.

There is no other blogger who overvalues players like Gagner, except for the other bloggers of all other teams I don't like. Bloggers completely overvalue players I have no actual knowledge of, but I've read somewhere that they aren't as good as some people think."

Led his team in scoring, yet wasn't one of their top 5.

It's ok to say he was underwhelming in the tourny, his whole team was. Not as underwhelming as team Canada though...

But people are taking the oppertunity to just proclaim him a bust for the glaringly obvious reason that they desperately want him to be. That's fine, get your shots in while you can.

The Yakupov bashers sort of forgot to notice how weirdly the Russian coach was using him, and how it seemed like he was alone on the ice for his team every time he took a shift. It's not Yakupov's fault the coaching for Russia was bad.

Also, I don't know if Russia had much of a transition game. The defense wasn't particularly good as making a first pass out of the zone. For Yakupov to score at a goal-a-game pace during that mess says more good than bad about his game.

As far as comparing the quality between Nuge and Yakupov, it's apples and oranges. Nuge is a slick, play-making center. The Oilers need Yakupov to be someone who can skate fast, find holes, and hammer home the puck.

No it is not, you are thinking Jankowski who has a shot in 3 yrs. Cervenka is early 20s, C, and a decent Euro 1-yr gamble. Since we spend to the cap or close to it, an advantage over the aforementioned 'every team can say they have good prospects and cap space to come' comment. And it is a good town to play in. And don't have Dion missing the net for 6m/yr.

And John Gaudreau should be a pretty good one

Yes, I think the Flames, as of now, are better run than the Leafs, since no Sutter is making the big decisions.

6 Nash-like players?
I'll give you three (of whom still have a lot to prove)
And I assume Yakopov and Schlutz are part of your 6? Let's see them play an NHL game first.
And your 6th is....Klefbom/Hemsky/Gagner? Get real.

Also, the Leafs have no need of any of the players you mentioned that are available nor would they pay the asking price of any of the players you mentioned wanting.

yep. yakupov will be a pavel brendl. sorry edmonton but it's bound to happen with one of the top picks. RNH will be a superstar. If RNH is your Sakic, Eberle is your Forsberg. Sadly Hall will be your Deadmarsh with a shortened career. Too bad you don't have a Roy yet but just wait for a star goalie to want out of his current city.

Montreal got the best player in the draft.

Can I take a look in that crystal ball of yours?

You obviously dont know poop. No one can say where any of these guys will end up career wise in 5-10 years from now.

You want him traded, so you are the one who needs to notice how the Russian coach treated him.
