he isn't skating with the team, so that's a pretty clear indication that keeping Redden is not the intention of the team
- jimbro83

The situation with Redden is like getting a divorce, finding a new significant other, but for financial reasons your spouse still has to live in the same house as you. Eventually, if at all possible, you want have the spouse move out of the guest bedroom, as that would make life more comfortable for everyone.

Think that ship has sailed. I entertained that idea too but I think the organization just wants to fully move on from him.

I'm sure it has, and Im sure Redden is a little disengaged with the Rangers by now. but seems to me that if you're paying someone all that money anyway, why not bring him to camp and see what he's got left...I must get it from the cheap Scottish side of my family

metaphorically, i was thinking more along the lines of a peice of poop car. The insurance is still good for the rest of the month. Im not gonna take the family to the grand canyon with it, but i'll run out to the store for milk and bread or maybe a burger on the weekends

Yea and that analogy is you live in a town where you don't wanna be seen in that car so you'd rather take the bus.

Sather has done a great job the last few years, but it's absolutely amazing how bad this Redden contract was. Five years into it, he hasn't played for us for 3 years, and we're still talking about it! I remember that summer thinking please, please don't be the team that signs Redden!

I think the best option for everyone involved would be for Redden to walk away from his contact. In his newly found free time he could call up Hugh Hefner and try to get his wife into Playboy.

those 2 summers of Drury, Gomez, Redden and Rozy were 4 of the worst contracts ever signed.

Drury and Gomez could still play though. Definitely not for those amounts of money, but still you had some confidence in their abilities. Redden was washed up 6 years ago and everyone else knew it. How he got $6 million a year for 6 years...wow.

Sather did a Jedi mind trick on himself!

the Redden contract was an instant shreeeeek from everyone the minute it happened.

The reaction was very positive about the Gomez and Drury signings when they happened.

I'm digging the new practice jerseys big time.. I am not a huge fan of the liberty logo and its about time we have our actual logo on a jersey, albiet a practice one.

The signing of the Redden contract also pretty much cemented Jagr's departure from New York. As someone who really appreciated Jagr and wanted him to say, I also hated the Redden signing for that reason.
