Some fans. You guys really have to think more. Forcing players to play here that don't want to is in no way conducive to a rebuilding team. If Nabakov and Vis never saw the ice this year or played great then left this fan would not be cheering them either way. They don't belong on this team or any team for that matter because they are not about the TEAM they are about themselves. Quite a few fans don't roll over as easy as you guys.

The common fans at the NVMC are not here on Hockey buzz... If Vis plays this season & plays well... he will be cheered by the masses... I also highly doubt anyone here will stay in their seats should he launch a shot from the point during a PP and puts it into the back of the net... you will applaud.

Roloson for Ty Wishart was pretty putrid. I guess you would have to trade to have bad ones? What about signings? Do you think he had any bad signings?
- Cptmjl

ryan smyth. james wiznewski. marc andre bergeron, richard zednick, trade up to get hamonic, al montoya....

signings?? matt moulson, michael grabner, nabakov....

You don't see anything wrong with having a player play on your team that doesn't want to be there? I still say (frank) Nabakov and think he is a mediocre goalie at best. (frank) both of these guys and you know what? (frank) the moron that traded for both of them (well one of them)
- Cptmjl

its not ideal. but im not going to complain about it, id cut my losses, get his ass on the ice and see what i can get out of the guy.

Getting Wiesnewski wasn't a great trade either...he was lucky he a got a 2nd round pick for him when he traded him to Montreal. The announcers on Hockey Night in Canada all were laughing on what a steal the Canadiens got. The Ryan Smyth trade was another winner. The guy didn't want to come here (sound familiar?) and then he bolted for free agency...
- kear20

they traded a 3rd for wiz
when they traded him, they got a 2nd and a 5th....how is it when a trade works out REALLY well for the isles, its luck?

Ryan Smyth was a GREAT trade for the islanders.... Robert Nilsson and Ryan O'Marra and Alex Plante (oilers selection from the islanders)....what have they done since they were traded?

name the bad trades that garth has made....
- LetsGoIsles

name the good one(s).
Trades....not waiver pick ups...so Nabby doesn't count.
Don't forget he also let PAP walk away when it was pretty obvious the season was over. Add in LV and that's two draft picks we "lost" for nothing.
He also took Rolston at $5M from LouLam.

He's proven he doesn't have the saavy to out-maneuver another GM.
He isn't capable of "selling" the team/LI to decent FA's and moving up in the draft to acquire deHaan will prove to be another waste when his weak shoulders keep him from ever making the team full time.

The season hasnt even started so you cant count LV... once the KHL tells him he cant play there because he has an NHL contract... you think he's sitting out a year, 2 years.. might as well retire.

everyone is going to boo him...no question about that...my point is nabakov was in the SAME EXACT spot and im willing to bet when nabby touchs the ice, youll be on your feet cheering for him....
- LetsGoIsles

Nabbys position was NOT the same.
He was coming off an injury to report to a team NOT making the playoffs as opposed to being Detroit's playoff backup....not starter. His reason was, why risk re-injury for a team going nowhere??? I can side with that. Since he got here, he's seemed happy....fans have accepted him and he's our #1 as of right now.

This remains to be seen...but also remember, Anaheim was dumping him for his salary. They took a 2nd round pick...not exactly an astronomical asking price. Could have been ANY team with cap space....we looked best because of our tradition of drafting high.

I will agree ha hasn't shown any ability to out maneuver another GM.. but he hasn't really made any maneuverable trades.

PAP walking is as I have said before... Inexcusable!!

No one has been capable to sell the team to free agents. Even as far back as the early 90's when we had some good teams.. players didn't want to sign here.

The jury is still out on deHaan but he does seem "slightly" Injury prone.

how do you figure?? Wishart is still playing hockey...what would roloson do for us right now?? Wishart at least have some sort of hockey value...may be minimal right now, but he has the potential!!

Roloson was good..no question. but the islanders werent going to win with or without him.

I will applaud the TEAM for another goal, certainly not him. Sorry I honestly can't relate to that. Also, Nabakov was getting booed even towards the end of the season.

how soon people forget.

PA was a fa signing, we didn't give up a draft pick for him. Snow kept him and kept trying to sign him but he opted for Jason Blake type money. Same result? I bet it will be.

Roloson - how much did Tampa like him last year? Not much unless they wanted to miss the playoffs. He was a 40 y/o goaltender...what more did you want back?

Smyth - nothing we traded ever developed into anything of value. Smyth didn't resign, well, can't fault snow for trying, we offered more dough than the avs and he walked.

LV - I don't blame Snow, I blame the player. Wishy washy as hell and he may eventually be forced to show up.

TBH, I think most of this negativity is left over Milbury hate. Snow started with NOTHING. Nothing in the farm, nothing on the roster. Looking at what we have right now, I'm pretty happy with the majority of it. I dislike DP still being on the team (Wang's contract, and his decision) and I wish we had brought in another defender, however, Hamonic's injury makes the depth look awful with LV in the KHL. If everyone had shown up, Donovan/Ness/Dehaan would have been 6-7 on the depth chart and he did not want to shut out the kids - no point drafting all these prospects if you're not going to make room for them.

Martinek coming back would be a good short term solution, there are better solutions, but I can live with that. In fact, even if Hamonic is healthy, LV shows up, I'd still be okay with them signing Martinek to a one year deal as insurance.

I didnt say anyone was going to buy his jersey, but holy cr@p I remember people applauding Kirk Muller when he did one or 2 things good in his career here.

when Jason Blake wanted 5 mil a year a ton of people screamed when he walked. PA is an AHL player who got first line minutes playing with Tavares. His points while playing on the second line mostly came while still on the first line powerplay. He's made a ton of awful decisions with the puck on the power play and is not worth the 16 million contract he signed. Jason Blake 2.0. When the Avs are trying to find a taker for his salary in 2013/2014 reference this post.

Snow & Wang are fine. Its what year 6 of the rebuild? Everything is right on schedule for that 10 year rebuild so everybody should just leave those two and there loyal followers alone.

Who said he was worth the money... He wasnt signed by the deadline, he should have been moved.. even for the last over all pick in the draft.. you dont let an asset go for nothing.. Someone thought he was worth 16 million dollars.. im sure that guy wasnt the only GM... second rounder, third rounder.....

I screamed when Blake walked because he should have been traded!!!! I was happy he was gone.. but he was an asset that we gained nothing from.

No GM should let an asset walk for nothing... none... but a GM that is in the middle of a rebuild... where every asset is that much more important... inexcusable.
