I read an article yesterday that Montreal migh thave to trade him as they are strapping for money. I think it will take a pick and a prospect for him. Maybe two. The Islanders have a lot of prospects to offer so I think that would be great
- kasperrko

montreal still has 6 million in cap space. And the only person left they need to sign is Subban, so unless another team sends an offer poop his way north of 5 million, i doubt the habs will let him go at all.

Plus all the dmen that were drafted last year by the Isles. They should have the pieces to make a move for Subban. I just do not see it happening.

But even as a 7th... what's the point, we have a 3 or 4 7th's in Bridgeport. At this stage Id rather Campoli come back as a 7th, or Wishart play as the 7th.

agreed...martinek isnt even considered a stop gap-- there are younger guys who can at least given the chance to prove they can play...martinek is what he is and only going to get worse with time.

that is true but the article mentioned something that Subban was not happy that they did not sign before all this crap with the lockout so he might not want to resign. I am just saying that it might be an option. Or maybe possible Del Zotto from the Rangers I heard not only through articles but Ranger fans that they might not have the money to resign him

Martinek was a lot of fun to watch when he was healthy... especially against his countryman OV.. not saying he won all..er most.. of the battles but they went at each outher pretty hard and I enjoyed it. That said he is never healthy and it is kind of silly... but at this point maybe you can Team him with DeHaan and between them get a 1/2 of season. (I got killed for bringing up DeHaan injuries way back when.. now unfortunately my fears seem to be spot on with him. He is getting hurt every friggin year for 4 years).
Anders Lee- .. I don't blame him for going back to school. If I was in ND I would not be in a big hurry to leave either.. get the degree and worry about NHL in a year or 2. I would imagine after getting a look at Frozen Four his freshmen year and not making it last year he wants that experience too... who knows hopefully him and Robbi Russo win National championship together and then join Isles in 2 years. certainly not a big worry this year.
actually shocked subban not signed. I thought He was... Don't see them trading him. If the islanders get anyone from Habs it will be Gomez and a pick or 2 as a cap move for them and picks for us.

Doesn't Vis not coming back eff up the KHL agreement between NHL?

also... everytime a guy skates at iceworks he is rumored to be coming back on the team (Yashin, Sata, etc.). It could by they are just working out with Pros near their home before going to their team.

Haven't seen anything yet about the Isles pulling anyone out of Bport's lineup. You'd think they wouldn't want Donovan playing in tonight's game just in case considering the state of the Isles' D right now. That's all they need is for Donovan to tweak something.

rangers have 5 million in cap even with redden include, so if the islanders want to offer sheet DZ for north of 5 million, they can. I'm sure the rangers would be happy with the islanders 1st round pick. Especially this year in a deep draft. Not to metion the rangers do't have a first rounder due to the neash trade.

i think hell be back; its safe to say he isnt thrilled about playing for the isles but a) he has a contract that will be tolled if he doesnt come back, putting him out a FULL season b) he prob realizes this and is dragging his feet to stay in mother-russia (or wherever the (frank) he is from) for a few more days...kinda like what kovalchuk is doing. theyve been playing for months and are already in game shape, they dont need to practice for a week...might as well be with family for a week or so...

I don't know the numbers wrt this and next season, but teams like Montreal, NYR, etc....are you talking about cap space under the $70M they're allowed to spend for this season or the $64 or whatever for next? It's going down for next season, isn't it? I've heard so much thrown around since the agreement I honestly don't know.

under the 70 million this season. the rangers 5 million in cap space right now, even with Redden's contract counting against the cap. I'm assuming that redden will be one of the rangers buyouts as sson as the season ends.

I dont know if this true or not but i heard something about Gaborik possibly being bought out next year. I think that wont happen but I have heard the rumble around.

I dont think the Islanders willpay for Del Zotto you think the Rangers will get him under contract though??

Gotcha. So teams like the Rangers are probably banking on complying with the $70m this year, then using the two buyouts to get down to next year's number.

If the Isles are serious about climbing out of the basement, this summer's going to be the time to make big moves. There'll probably be decent players bought out, and other teams will have to make some moves as well to comply. Also, the number of teams able to compete for these suddenly available players will be lower with the cap going down.

Too bad a healthy Martinek is a myth!

The guy is the best positional d-men we have had on this team in almost 2 decades.... but relying on him to fill a roster spot for 48 games is like expecting DP to win the Vezina.. sure I guess its possible.... but its never gonna happen.

The guy can play, he's really talented, Problem is he was built in the same Glass factory as DiPietro.

These 2 guys alone were HUGE factors in us leading the league in man games lost over the last 5-6 seasons.

With the NHL and KHL agreement... the NHL has asked the KHL to void Vis contract.

He should not be allowed to play there.

He may not play @ all.

Part of the problem is he is only due 3 million this year, and will only see probably 2 million of that.

The KHL team is probably offering him more to stay for his hometown team.

I really don't think Vis planned on playing in the NHL @ all this year.

He was hoping for a buyout... then return home to finish off his career.

Even if they pick up Radek... he can play in Bridgeport and be brought up if needed.

At this point, it's tough to make a case for him to play here. He's made a bigger spectacle of this than Nabokov did. I can't imagine he'd get a very warm reception when his name's called out on opening night. Hopefully if he's forced to come here he's just immediately flipped somewhere for a pick.
