All I'm saying Vukota is now we have a tonne of propsects.

Top 5 in the league.

We are moving into a brand new arena.

Should be making money instead of losing money.

Snow has to make moves this year to translate all the prospects, cap space etc... to bring this team to the next level.

After this year... there are no more excuses.

They asked for 5 years... they got it.

If Snow doesn't produce... then it's time to move on!!!

With other teams trying to get under the cap next year... there is going to be great oppurtunities to pick up some great players.

It's a long process... but the future is bright.

Alot more than Ty Wishart. Tampa was a team without a goalie heading to the playoffs and Roloson was a goalie that carried a team to the finals five yrs ago. The guy is a good goalie with a great resume. He was worth more than Wishart to a team like that. It's not rocket science. Ask any Tampa fan what he was worth when they got to see an excellent end to the regular season and watch their team play extremely well in the PO's. Their answer would be a hell of alot more than Wishart.

I hate to break it to you but at the time of the trade Roloson was playing extremely well especially with the crap playing in front of him. What happened after he was traded is a different story.

He was a locker room cancer because he called out his team and the way the franchise operated?? I wish more players had the balls to stand up to wang and the way this team is run, then maybe they wouldn't suck year after year.

I didn't mind the trade because he was an older asset and the team sucked, but getting wishart back was brutal no matter how old the goalie was

I think the big issue was the Isles rushed the trade and should have waited a little longer. I do not think there was a big market for Rolo but I would have to think they could have gotten a little more closer to the deadline.

totally agree, the traded Rolo to soon, problem was Isles thought there wasnt gonna be a market for goalies that year, and they traded to early, unfortunately towards the deadline, other teams had goalie issues, so it was a little premature of Snow pulling the trigger early on that one

OK...so joining late, but as for the point of this thread....the problem with Martinek is you hate paying someone for 82 games who is only going to play 28....if that guy could only stay healthy, he'd be a decent five or six. The problem is, we need a three or four.....and we need someone who makes the opponent AFRAID TO CROSS THE BLUE LINE WITH HIS HEAD DOWN, which I've been saying since....well, probably since Denis Potvin retired, let's face it. That is why I really wanted Hamilton, although I can't complain about the guy we did draft, obviously. Small, fast defensemen make you....the Philadelphia Eagles.....and trust me, you don't want to watch THEM play defense.....not ever......if you saw what happened to Notre Dame the other night, you get the picture..... This will especially be true if Mr. Infirmary Ward gets anywhere near our net during an actual game, ever again- you might as well turn off the TV.

A majority of prospects don't work out. Less than 1% of all hockey players ever make the NHL.

You use the prospects to build your team.

I know everybody wants them to build the team through free agency... but then you guys tell me nobody will sign on the Island.

You can't have it both ways.

If people can't see this team heading in the right direction... then they really need to step back and look @ the big picture!!!

I agree....but this is also why Brooklyn was a flat out necessity....you can't play your home games in a rat-infested, high school gym, and expect free agents to knock down the door to get in. You need SOME pieces that don't come through the draft, and they can't get people to come here when they TRADE FOR THEM, never mind trying to sign them as anything but a "last resort". To think that's ALL on Wang is ridiculous- it's mostly the building and the facilities. Even Dylan Reese said that, and no one is going out of their way to get into a bidding war for HIS services. The idea that someone who has his pick of the litter is going to come and play at the cesspool in Uniondale is asinine. Once that changes, and as the team becomes decent, then it will move forward....and it's going to be sooner, rather than later.
