go back and read the comments from then. I do agree, the team was absolute crap, I don't deny that at all. It was his comments that got him moved before the deadline.

I understand that as I stated. I agreed with Roloson and still do. With a coach like Capuano and a GM like Snow winning is just not the attitude. I think it's plain as day.

A majority of prospects don't work out. Less than 1% of all hockey players ever make the NHL.

You use the prospects to build your team.

I know everybody wants them to build the team through free agency... but then you guys tell me nobody will sign on the Island.

You can't have it both ways.

If people can't see this team heading in the right direction... then they really need to step back and look @ the big picture!!!

- jimmc7722

Sure you can with a capable GM.

There is no excuse. Most prospects don't turn out to be what they were projected to be. More than a few of de Haan, Donovan, Nino, Nelson, Strome, Reinhart, Kabanov, and others will turn out to either not be what they were billed as, or be a total, useless bust.

Blaming anyone for the unfortunate facts would just be asinine.

I know how it works when it comes to prospects and I understand that a lot of them don't live up to the expectations. My point was it will come as no shock if most of them don't pan out because you have two people who have no business being in the position they are in to over look a complete rebuild.

We have been looking at this big picture now for 6 years. It has not improved in any way. We have been picking in the top five for the last 6 years(and the forseeable future) and have one maybe two blue chip prospects. That's no much.

oh I think we all agree capuano is over his head and just awful as a head coach. I'm disgusted with who we've brought in to coach such a young team, but like I was saying earlier, I have a feeling that decision is coming from above snow.

Why? Good friend of Snow's from New England but it was Wang's idea? How does this even make any sense? I love when people blame Wang for every Snow misstep. It's like Obama nation blaming Bush for every (frank) up like they will after this term. Cracks me up

Like I've been saying for a couple of years now, no matter where this team moves too until Wang is out of the picture for good then team will never do anything.

I unfortunately agree with this but this doesn't mean that Snow is some amazing GM and we can't tell bcs evil Wang is stopping him from being one.

Exactly. You notice you don't hear well it took the Penguins this many years and the Blackhawks took this many years to rebuild. Those guys are now looking for new excuses now that we are in year 6 of the rebuild and can't even put a decent lineup together. I wish I wasn't a die hard fan because I facking hate this team!!!

In fairness to snow he has no capital to work with regardless of what they say in the paper or interviews and even if he did there is no faith in him that's for sure. They are both in way over their heads its comical

#'s don't add up.

All I'm saying Vukota is now we have a tonne of propsects.

Top 5 in the league.

We are moving into a brand new arena.

Should be making money instead of losing money.

Snow has to make moves this year to translate all the prospects, cap space etc... to bring this team to the next level.

After this year... there are no more excuses.

They asked for 5 years... they got it.

If Snow doesn't produce... then it's time to move on!!!

With other teams trying to get under the cap next year... there is going to be great oppurtunities to pick up some great players.

It's a long process... but the future is bright.

I live in a border town, and own property in the USA.

for whatever it's worth, I may defend some of snow's moves but I don't think that everything is fine or everything is good. I believe Wang as an owner creates a handicap for any GM, and limits the amount of moves Snow could make. To his credit, I think Snow has restocked the organization with prospects and has found some talent in bargin bins that has worked out well. Where he's struggled is making the move to give this team a real shot at the playoffs and I don't know whether that's lack of effort or limitations from Wang. I suspect it's our owner.

I know a lot of people here will read my responses and assume I'm a Snow supporter or blindly following the team. It's not a case of black or white for me, shades of grey. I love the team. I'll follow the team, but I will look at what they do as an organization and there are some serious flaws. I just happen to believe the flaws are at the very top. Whether that changes in Brooklyn, I don't know.

I listen to Satellite Radio very often. I hear many shows and interviews from Canada. I occasionally read interviews and watch videos on TSN. I surf the internet and read as many articles on the Islanders as I can.

The consensus of the so-called Experts is that although Snow has restocked the Isles with prospects. They dont give him a heck of a lot of credit. He's had lottery picks for several yrs. Any GM with half a brain could pick a winner or two in a position like that.

Also, they say the jury is out on guys like KO Bailey DeHaan Nino etc to determine if they will ever amount to anything better than average.

Also being a GM of a Perennial Basement dwelling team. Of course he'll get 1st cracks at players put on waivers. You pick up enough of em and BANG!!!! One or two will pan out.

Its a numbers game with Snow. He been given a plethora of opportunities to acquire players. So far very few have paned out and yr after yr we compete for the top pick in the draft. Someday Snow has to be held accountable. Few GMs with his record are as secure in their employment as he. Which says much about this organization.

But, I think the past couple of drafts will eventually put the Isle over the top. Strome, Mayfield, Reinhart Pedan Nelsen, no need to go on you know the names. But it will come long past the planned and projected 5 yr Rebuild. Someone over in Islander Land must have finally put on their thinking Caps.

It's a shame that the winning wont start until the team relocates to Brooklyn. Almost seems like it was planned that way.

Getting Wiesnewski wasn't a great trade either...he was lucky he a got a 2nd round pick for him when he traded him to Montreal. The announcers on Hockey Night in Canada all were laughing on what a steal the Canadiens got. The Ryan Smyth trade was another winner. The guy didn't want to come here (sound familiar?) and then he bolted for free agency...
- kear20

So the Canadiens getting him for a 2nd was a steal. but the Islanders getting him for a 3rd wasn't? Please explain.

you make a ton of valid points and we agree - I am not saying Snow is an excellent GM, I do believe we have plenty of question marks regarding the players drafted, how they were developed and the lack of a veteran coach to develop them. I am extremely unhappy with the continual choice to bring in a coach without NHL experience when young players clearly could benefit from someone with experience. I blame a lot of this on Wang, I'm quite sure that most experienced coaches would stay away from the Isles due to our owner's reputation and I'm also sure that any vet coaches will be over the internal budget Wang has set for the coaching staff. I also believe that Cappy wasn't fired because they still owe him a year on the contract and would have to pay it out in addition to paying for a new head coach. I blame wang again for this.

I don't blame Snow for not bringing in the vet ufas that are still able to help us, he's offered more money and been turned down. He's made decent trades for bit pieces, which are mostly low risk, low reward. Where I would be critical of him is that aside from Ryan Smyth, he has not given this team of young developing players much help. Streit has turned out well but was thought of as a forward/defenseman and not terribly well regarded in Montreal. That worked out well for us, but could have easily not.

What Snow needs to do now, and had better do by the offseason coming up at the latest, is to pull the trigger on something that will push this team to the next step. We can draft and try to develop kids for years, but if you're playing them with crap or putting them in situations they're not ready for you're spinning your wheels.

Bobby Ryan would have been a great piece, PK Subban would be a big piece, something like that is going to be needed in order to kick start this team toward the playoff picture. Not a Guerin who's a couple years from retirement, we need a legit top line winger, and a legit top four defender in their prime who is signed long term so we can put them onto this team and fill a hole. Not plug a leak, FILL A GODDAMN HOLE.

While I may sound like a Snow defender (and to a point I am) I still believe the franchise is limited by Wang as an owner and that Snow has to pull off a move to bring in legitimate talent to make me believe he can do this long term. As it is, he's done what I had hoped in replenishing the prospects in the organization and we have more roster talent than we did when he started, and it's younger and has potential. They will not reach their potential unless they have help. Snow's window with me is closing as this is the time the help needs to come. Get it done. If not, step aside.

I hope by writing this book that you can see I'm both positive and negative with Snow - I'm not disagreeing with those of you who expect more and I'm not slamming him quite yet, but he's got a job to do to fill those holes and he needs to step up and do it.

Milbury wouldn't show any patience, Snow shows too much. Middle ground. Want to see it.
