Fair enough, but they lost 2 of their top 4 d-men including their captain in Lidstrom and Stuart. Lidstrom was still one fo the best d-men in the league last year. Kronwall, Ericsson, White, etc, is a shaky looking group. I still see them in the playoffs, but they'll need their defensemen and Howard to come up really big if they want to win the division and make a run in the playoffs.
Datsyuk is still one of the best players in the world though, love watching him play.

4 less points in 30 less games, not nearly as small, and I still wouldn't say he'll be lighting up the NHL at any point soon. Hell, more points in less games counting his NHL production. Kadri is at least a point per game in the AHL, Schroeder is half that.
Schroeder is a career AHLer. Not even a first line AHLer. To claim he's going to fare better in the NHL than he is in the AHL is somewhat ludicrous.

I agree so far I have not been overly impressed with Schroeder.
Pertty sure it was just an invite to camp. I think this maybe getting blown out of proportion a little. Invites don't equal a spot on the team. - thundachunk

The Flames as usual will go on a 2 month losing streak, drop out of a playoff position, then Iginla will wake up 2 weeks before the playoffs and lead the team on a winning streak...only to come up 1 point short.

I was pretty high on Schroeder, Rodin and Connauton not too long ago as well so I'm still a little sceptical of MG's drafting and I will be until I see one of his own draft picks make a big impact. Hodgson looks good, but does he really count if he ends up becoming a solid player in Buffalo?

Unless he plans on having to fill a spot I can't see him bringing him in to push someone for a 5th of 6th spot? I'm boggled unless he plans on signing him to the AHL.

I'd call it good draft pick but poorly timed trade. Whats the biggest hole on the team right now? An NHL ready play making centre....
I doubt they do it before the season. But if they do it wont be much of a return...
