No prediction until rosters are finalized... would take #8 for Chicago at this point... - Nerko77
I'm wondering if there will be any moves - seems to me at this point most GMs are going to be scrambling to sign enough guys to put together a roster - doesn't leave much time to wheel and deal before the first puck drops.
Maybe when about 10 games are in the books, GMs will start to get itchy trigger fingers. |

Oilers out??
I don't think so. In fact, I predict they actually end up over the Wings. I fear this team (most have been playing thru the lockout) more than the Canucks and Wings.
Mark this down. - 67hawks
Defense, my friend, is important. They're going to have score the most goals in the western conference to make the playoffs. |

This. And not just the defensemen either. The good teams all play good team defense. I don't think those kids are prepared to do that yet.
I'm also not sure why everyone thinks being on a 7th place AHL team is going to turn these kids into NHL world beaters either. |

They have Schultz. The rest of the D will just hang on to his cape ride there way to the playoffs. |

Exactly. They have great individual effort but have yet to impress me as a team. |

Krueger will address that I think, as well as defensive issues. He has a history of both. |

Not playing- they have played together for what, 5-6 years now. They will be fine without warm ups.
Issue in net?- if by issue you mean two of the best in the league, then yes.
No. 2 C- He'll be there pretty quick. trust me on that - IanEsplen
It seems to just take them too long to actually remember they are playing. They cannot afford to piss away what will be almost 1/2 the season this year, and nothing says they won't be the typical slow starters. Bad habits are hard to shake.
Two of the best? Maybe provable a couple of years ago. That was then. A SCFail, complete debacle in the playoffs last year, the subsequent off season and a long layoff later...believe it when I see it.
Sorry trust is earned...

He'll address it eventually. But in a shortened season under a new coach, they might be gelling a little too late. BTW loved how Dubnyk played in the Spengler. If he plays like that this year, he'll steal a few games for you. |

Surprised how many people still beleive this...
Oilers only allowed 153 even strength goals last year. only 2 more than the Flames who are apparently very storng defensively and in goal?
The Oilers biggest problem last year was injuries. They lost all their top scorers for a period of time as well as most of their defense. They filled in with AHLers.
I predict the Oilers roster as it is, if for the most part healthy all year will be in the playoffs.
And a s much as everyone slams Gagner...he is better than what Vancouver or Calgary will be starting the season with at 2nd line C. |

My prediction is Van trading Lou...Corey being average over the season,,,Van finishing the season in 3rd...out in the 2nd round...
Followed by
Burning cars on West Georgia...
Yeah Vancouver
Oh and yes I fully expect my Flames to have a average-bad season - FlamesfanE5
I doubt they do it before the season. But if they do it wont be much of a return...
I really dont think the NW is going to be the cakewalk it once was for the Canucks. Wild, Oilers, Colorado all improved. Canucks? What have they improved? |

Wont deny that without an actual camp or preseason it will take longer, but Krueger knows his stuff and will get them straight. Until then hopefully the first two lines can just score a poop tonne of goals and Dubnyk holds the fort. Much also depends on how healthy Whits can stay. Schultz or not, Whitney is a guy Edmontons defence depends on. |
