I wonder who's available (defenseman) for trade, and the team trading would accept only picks in return.

Does anyone know how many draft picks we got for next year.

Flyers have 1 pick in every round next year.

We trade one - - Dallas Stars traded Niklas Grossman to the Philadelphia Flyers for second-round draft pick in 2012 and a third-round draft pick in 2013.

Anyway... Homer loves to trade away the second rounders. thats as good as gone.

The Flyers traded their 3rd rounder in the Grossmann deal, but got Minnesota's 3rd for Darroll Powe and picked up a 4th rounder from Columbus in the Bobrovsky trade

Disagree with what specifically?

I just choose to reserve judgement on Bouwmeester until he joins a team that is consistent on making the playoffs. We all know that his goal totals dropped dramatically when joining the flames. I just feel he has more to give and he has in the past, even on a bad team. Again, I would like to see what he can do on a really good team. Is he worth his current contract? Absolutely not. However if the flames to use to buy him out this summer, I would consider looking at him at a lower cost.

Bill, who do you think the Flyers hold in highest regards as far as a prospect...

Cousins or Laughton?

I'd like to see them allow him to finish the year in Oshawa.

The guy has been in the league for 9 years, played every game of the season 8 out of 9 seasons, and has never seen the playoffs. For the money he makes he should at the very least be helping his team into the postseason. Calgary made the playoffs 4 years in a row prior to aquiring him so maybe it's more than just the team around him.
He's an average defender with a ridiculous price tag. Also, playing that many games without injury doesn't happen when you don't go to great lengths to avoid contact. He's a great skater and puck mover but he doesn't win and I don't think he even cares. Just keep sending those checks.

So maybe there is a second gear to this player if he truly doesn't care. I think you just made my case and point, even though I feel it is unfair to question an athlete's willingness to play. Like you just stated, he plays every night. I think what is most import right now is the flyers find a reliable puck mover.

Bouwmeester is a solid defenseman who would no doubt help the Flyers right now. If he made 4M a year, I'd be all for it. But not at his current Cap hit especially considering he has another year left after this one.

The KHL president is making noise about fighting to allow players who went to the KHL for the lockout to stay if they wish, despite whether or not they have existing NHL deals.

Could be worse. Imagine being the guy who chose Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan.
- PLindbergh31

Or the team that won the last game of the year and took Leroy Keys when they could've lost and had OJ Simpson.

Larry Brown took the Croation flub over Carmello Anthony too.

Or Moses, First Rd pick + for Ruland, Robinson, Hinson..

I can not and will not disagree with you on this point. My worry is Timonen retires at the end of this season and he isn't replaced. However, to say Bouemeester is what he is, I just can't agree. Bouwmeester originally replaced Deon Phaneuf. I will not say Phaneuf is overrated but over hyped. The point is Phaneuf had a strong start to his career and then dropped off. In my opinion Deon has had a rebirth in Toronto. Selanne at his age was terrible before for the last lockout and then after a year of rest, he was outstanding again. Even won a Cup. Nathan Hortan is another example of a guy who won a Cup and never played in the playoffs prior.

It's easy to solve. Bettman can tell the IIHF that the NHL will never agree to release players for the Olympics and that the individual teams will sue the players that do not return for the full value of their contracts, while naming the IIHF & it's directors as co-defendants.

Nobody is saying that Bouwmeester can't play better. Or that being put in a better situation, he might be more effective. But that is far different then saying he has potential. You put most good players on a better team, and they have a better chance of excelling. Potential is what a young player has. At least that's how I view it.

Medveded would make a great wrestling heel. Says he's not afraid of IIHF sanctions...it'd be a pisser if the IIHF banned Russia from the 2014 Olympics
