I do love how he fleeced Edmonton for Pronger by over-selling Lupul at the height of his value, then fleeced Anaheim by picking up Lupul at his absolute lowest. - Leeman4Gilmour
Weird too, cause Edmonton was under no pressure at all to get a deal done. What a mastermind. |

Yes, and it's not like Edmonton had anywhere else to send him.

Im not excusing him. There is a reason he's no longer the GM. Just pointing that there was a rather important extenuating factor in that deal. |

True. He should have just waited so that the issue could drag into the season. Things like that really help team building. |

Is it so cut and dry? I mean while on the same team a 21 year old Sundin sure did put up better numbers than a 23 year old Sakic......
13 Mats Sundin 1971-02-13 21 C 80 47 67 114 96 21 6 3 1 4 6
19 Joe Sakic 1969-07-07 23 C 78 48 57 105 40 -3 6 3 3 6 2
and the next year
19 Joe Sakic 1969-07-07 24 C 84 28 64 92 18 -8 -- -- -- -- --
13 Mats Sundin 1971-02-13 22 C 84 32 53 85 60 1 -
These are numbers on the same team, of course we're talking careers here, and Sakic had the better career. But don't you find it the least bit interesting those two years? And it wasn't just one game, 20 points in 16 Olympic games, 12 points in 8 world cup games. It's a fricking travesty that he had so little to work with in Toronto. We had a franchise centre and we couldn't even get that right. - mykokes
I hate myself for typing this, but there's a case to be made for Sundin over Yzerman.
In terms of pure talent, I'd take Sundin. His size (even though he never used it) gives him an added dimension.
Yeah, I feel dirty. |

Sundin didn't smash people, but he did use his size effectively.
If he had a meanstreak, he woulda been unstoppable. |

Makes sense. Life would be so much easier if we could just go to some kind of building that housed cleaned and properly portioned pieces of meat that we could purchase in a matter of minutes. |

Sakic has some pretty good players to feed on the power play: Forsberg, Kamensky, C. Lemieux.
But Robbie Earl was traded before Tlusty emerged as a superstar, so it's hard to compare.
Hard, but not impossible.

Wild meat>>>than overly processed grocery store meat.
but like I said, on a moose that big and how old it likely was, the meat would be tough and gamey. that fella shoulda been left alone to die a warriors death. |

Killed that thing just to put it on a wall.
