Yes.

If you disagree, please explain to us why Borje Salming was not a phenomenal player.

That's great no?

Shouldn't you be applauding that sort of constraint?

I mean, doesn't finishing 26th give you a shot at the lottery?

- Pen15

Show me one time Burke didn't sit on his hands to "save his job" and it subsequently resulted in long term ramifications for the organization....

I'm still waiting.

- Pen15

Burke is going to do nothing to change that. Nothing.

As we all know, those are the only indicators of talent.

Sundin never won anything, either.

- Leeman4Gilmour

I'm really starting to get sick and tired of people who use the 'well, he never won anything' argument.

FFS, it's a team game.

Alfie hasn't won jack, but that doesn't mean he didn't deserve to be part of an illustrious club of people who win the conne smythe on a losing team.

People need to pull their heads out of their asses. Saying that is not a valid point.

Curtis Jospeh is, what, 4th all time in wins? Not his fault the team we put in front of him was only good for 2 rounds. Plus he got a major shaft job in DET

So when he didn't do a damn thing last year at the deadline....

Or this summer....

Or last summer....

- Atomic Wedgie

Guess it's just going to stay like that. Hope it does. Could use the lottery pick.

Based on HIS history....yes...he's going to do NOTHING.

Now, I should preface that with the fact that his job isn't even in jeopardy for him to do something like that...but let's save that for another time.

Really?

Widely regarded as the biggest d-bag to ever play in the NHL.

My favourite Barbumhole moment: was at a Leafs game at the ACC when Tommy was on the roster. Hmmmm, only one goalie for the warmup. That's weird. I hope Tommy isn't injured.

Nope, turns out when he found out he wasn't starting, he was so pissed he refused to watch the game from the bench.

I know goalies are weird, but c'mon.

Anyhoo, not a HHOFer.

- Atomic Wedgie

I just thought it was cool how he went straight from high school into the NHL (not common for a goalie). And I loved the Pens a lot in the late 80's early 90's. They had my favorite players too in Mario and Coffey.

Perfect. Thornton and Luongo. What's more exciting than playoff disappointment?
- Two_For_Truth

Oh, Uggie.

It seems you have all the answers to life.

Except, of course, the one to the question "how do I get out of my parents' basement?"

Much like Burkie, I urge you to stick to your plan. There are plenty of NHL management scouts who troll Hockeybuzz, looking for bright young lads with upper management potential.

If the past is any indicator of the future (which it usually is), then he'll do nothing to sell the farm for short term success.

Much, much too soon.

My God, Marley the Moose isn't even cut up, braised, marinated and made into stew yet, and you are making jokes?

What the hell is wrong with you?

Enjoy your ban, douche.

- Atomic Wedgie

What about 30 metre squids can we atleast agree to killing those?

That moose could feed a nation ..of people that eat moose (i.e. Newfies).

I would kill for Thornton. I've liked that guy since I lived in Boston.

He gets a bad rap - his "playoff choke" was when he was playing with a separated shoulder.

Yeah, he passes way too much, but just imagine him between Kessel and Lupul.

- Atomic Wedgie

I don't think he passes too much, because it's not like he has the greatest shot.

Spezza, on the other hand, passes too much, because his shot is underrated

Just remember.

Ug is the guy who said "If we want to make the playoffs, we'll give Bryzgalov anything he wants".

But yet, he's against trading for Loungo.

His place in his mom's basement gives him a unique vantage point to opine about the lacklustre careers of some of the best 100 hockey players of all time.

Absolutely no way the job of an executive is on the line when he constantly finishes at the bottom of the league. That's just crazy talk.

Sundin wasn't among the best of his generation either nor was he phenomenal. As a Leaf, he was phenomenal because nobody else on the Leafs was anywhere near his talent level but on the grand scale, it's a different story. Sundin was good enough to make the HHOF based on his accomplishments as a Swedish player. Being the first to do a lot of things etc. That doesn't make him phenomenal when you compare him to guys like Sakic or Yzerman.
- Two_For_Truth

Let me preface this with its not because of his career as a Leaf I view Sundin as being a great player, in fact I think his career as a Leaf takes away from what he could've been. When the best players in the world got together, Sundin's star shined very brightly whether at the Olympics or the World Cups. That 5-2 Sweden Canada game in 2002, he made all the Canadian centres look like pylons, including Sakic, Yzerman and Mario. You won't convince me otherwise, to me Sundin was one of the best players in the 90s and early 2000's before the Crosby/Ovechkin/Malkin invasion.

There's a great thread from a few years back where he compares Tlusty to Kurri, Malkin, and Jagr.

The Internet is a great place to preserve your stupid opinions for posterity.

Burke never makes trades. Keep waiting for him to not make a trade to improve his team. Clearly, being 26th is fine by him and won't get him fired.
- Two_For_Truth

That wasn't what he asked dude. Man up and admit that trading youth isn't his M.O., and Penis will leave you alone.

Anyone saying what UG is, are coming from IhateBurkeland
The timing of the Kessel trade was horrible, and I hated it from day 1..but it wasnt selling the farm for short term success, and I cant think of 1 deal where he has done that.
