Umm no the D was.
Crosby fanned on the shot.

the biggest choke occured in Nagano.

Time to come back to reality and give credit where it is due.

Do you want your list back, or am I still filling it out for you?

Oh so we only want goalies with cups.
Ok, no problem.

- Fakepartofme

That would be nice, yes. But that's not what I said.

Unless Riemer has a stanley cup.

Did we win the Stanley cup with Riemer?

Not many guys today would survive Scott Stevens, provided we are talking about late 90's rules.

He was running over chumps back when players were taught to keep their heads up. Can you imagine the field day he'd be having now?

- Leeman4Gilmour

Fans would Boo-Hoo about him till he was out of the league.

He gets the Lucic treatment. Hate him on the other team, but would gargle his knob if he was on your team.

Can't wait until Stamkos loses those 20 PPG's from the slide pass from St. Louis for a one-timer from the left circle and we all roast Stammer if he gets 38 goals and places 5th in scoring some year.

so.... ovechkin or stamkos?

are you seriously comparing gauthier to stevens? should i bring out the stevens hit on lindros video?
- peddy-93

How many concussions has Ovechkin had? How many games has he missed in his career? I've seen guys like Crosby/Stamkos etc. all get caught with their head down, I haven't seen Ovechkin caught with his head down outside of the Olympics, and when guys go for that big stevens hit on Ovie, the above usually happens. When 38 goals and 215 hits is a bad season for a player, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't write off 27 year old hockey players and assume they are on the downswing of their career.

I don't know if that's what Mirtle actually said or not, but that's completely wrong.

The way the rule is understood -- there is lots of confusion on it -- the closer your retirement is to the end of the contract, the higher the hit. If Luongo retires three years before end of contract the penalty is $2M/year. If he retires one year before, the hit for a single year is $6M. If Suter/parise leave 4 years early, penalty is almost $5/year each. If one year early, it is almost $20M each. Extend that to Weber leaving one year early and the penalty is $32.9M.

Math on Luongo and Wild comes from Fear the Fin

http://www.fearthefin.com...uongo-rule-makes-no-sense

Dan Tolensky applied that to Weber

i guess you missed one of my recent posts.. i didnt say ovechkin isnt an elite scorer, i said he isnt the score he used to be because hes become more and more predictable. can he still score 45-50? of course he can, dont see the 60's happening for him anymore.

and whether ovie has his head down or not, when stevens hits you, he's not going to be the one falling. And if stevens caught ovechkin cutting into the middle for a shot and lined him up, RIP ovie

Yeah, that seems wrong.

Here's how Friedman explains it:

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/...-hurt-roberto-luongo.html

Here's Weber's bizarre salary:

http://www.capgeek.com/player/1042

I'm going to screw around on Excel and see if I can figure out what the cap punishment would be for retiring early, but I'd say there's about a 20% chance I get it right.

- Atomic Wedgie

Friedman's explanation makes sense. A 2.1 million dollar cap hit to Leafs and a 2 million for the Canucks for the remainder 3 years if Lou was traded to TO and retired at 40.

Running the numbers, and I don't know if I've done them right, but basically if he retires 1 year early, $6,857,142 cap hit.

Same with 2 years early, only cap hit is for two years

Same with 3

Am I comparing Gauthier as a player to Stevens or as a hitter? Please don't make assumptions. Thanks. PS. It was hitting that got Gauthier selected in the first round, problem was he had poop all to the rest of his game.

I don't know if the NHL thought this one through if that's the case.

Isn't the idea to punish teams who gave out clear cap circumvention deals? Isn't the idea to make teams eat the cap hit for deals that extend far beyond the actual end of the player's career?

It seems to me that retiring one year early as opposed to three is actually much more honest and fair. Nail the teams who tacked on three garbage years at the end of deals to bring the cap hit down.

- Leafland

Why?
We were paying Tucker 1million to play on another team.
A 2million cap hit would be nothing.
